Wat Pra That Doi Pra Chan, Lampang Province, Thailand

4.5 (11 reviews) Spent Ranking #1 in Mae Tha District Religious Sites

Beautiful temple on the hill.

After parking our vehicle, we spent the next 40 minutes sight-seeing the beautiful temple. This Lanna style temple has many wonderful decorations, whether it be Naga stairs, arched entrance, bas reliefs, or an elegant Japanese style Buddha statue (it was not complete at the time when we visited, what a pity). Visitor can also enjoy watching a panorama view of grassy landscape of Mae Tha. Moreover, there is a coffee shop to relax and have some drinks or buy some souvenirs. Don't miss this place !

    Beautiful Lanna Temple
This temple is not far from Lampang City, takes about 30 mins. to arrive. It is newest attraction to visit . Beautiful and peaceful temple. Not crowded with people. You can drive the car up to the mountain with 1 lane road with signal to go up and down .

Breathtaking view with less crowds on the late afternoon
This attraction is just 23 kms south from downtown Lampang /driving to Ban fon junction then turn left in to well paved asphalt to the foot of the hill where the temple locates atop. The surroundings is limited space so limitation of visitors and cars to accede the parking lots on the top; if go in early morning and afternoon, there are shuttle service to take visitors to the temple. We went on late afternoon so got access by our car , there were thai E sarn architecture with main white stupa with golden top ; the temple is also acceded by foot via steps of ladder decorated with Naga balustrades. There is small shop selling iced/hot coffee and snacks. Go late in afternoon to avoid crowds of visitors and experience best view of sunset.
