Canon del Sil is the zone, where there is the canyon of Sil River, in Ourense Province, in Galicia Region, in the North of Spain. It is a place, where you can see some wonderful lookouts to see the river, nature, forests l, pathwalks, some monasteries converted in hotels, some churches in ruins or other religious buildings. Really, a zone to go by car and enjoy one or some days. We came here with friends and see the Monastery of San Esteve de Ribas de Sil (a monastery reconverted in a hotel), Monastery of San Pedro de Rocas and Monastery of Santa Cristina (both in ruins, really romantic ruins), a town called Castro Caldelas near the canyon, or some lookouts like Das Escadas, Vilouxe, Columna (wonderful views!), Cabezas or Los Balcones de Madrid. Really a lovely place to go with the family or friends! A top in the region! This was one of our favorite things to do in Ribeira Sacra. Parking is available at the Albergue O Fabrica de la Luz and the wooden walk or "pasarela" starts just a few feet away. You can enjoy the amazing scenery of vineyards on the slopes, read about the plants in the area, and even enjoy the water at the bottom of the stairs. The stairs portion is 2 km and by following the path on the stairs-side of the bridge, you a will find a very nice sandy beach to take a rest before going starting the journey back up.See more..
