This is a really beautiful beach and was quite deserted when we visited in early Sept. on a day when temps reached 38c. It was very clean and seems to be a couple of miles long with a rocky part at one end, which is great for rockpooling and paddling for little ones.See more..

Praia de Rodas is one of the some beaches located in Cíes Islands, near Vigo, in the Western part of Galicia Region, in the North of Spain. It is a sand beach with white sand, so it is a very nice place, which you see when arrive to the island (the little port is close to this beach). We see it, when we began a hike around all main island, and when we finished, we went to this beach to relax, drink a glass of wine and bath. It was very good! As natives to Vigo as we are, we enjoy coming to this marvellous beach, which is only 4 miles from the city centre and also reachable by bus (1.32€ / one way ticket; all day until 23.00h). You can lie under the sun or get your place under the near shady pine trees. There are some summer season bars where you can get some treats and beverages (coke, hot coffee, sodas, ...) amd relax while the (very) late sun sets on the magnificent Cíes Islands, which we hope to be chosen as World Heritage soon. At the end of the day, maybe you can enjoy a performance of what the rich Roman family that dwelt on the area lived like. Even if you miss that, don't forget to visit the Villa deToralla museum.
