Playa Samil - Samil beach
Vigo's most popular beach, a long stretch of white sand, with several fantastic kids open air free pools, a rollerskating rink and half pipe on the prom, a very high water slide (pay), a picnic area, toilets, showers, two or three restaurants and a couple more and a bowling alley on the other side of the road.

Urban beach
You don't really know Vigo until you have been there. It is an "urban beach", close to the city centre, with restaurants and a nice marina, big and clean. Don't miss it!

Great day for a cruise ship stop
Takes about 10 minutes from the port by taxi and about 10 Euros each way for up to 4 in a cab. Taxis are immediately outside of the cruise terminal and drive by the beach rather frequently for the return trip (less than 10 minutes wait in our case). Beach is very nice, and in low tide, tide pools are great...a variety of sea stars, urchins and many other tide pool favorites. Beach has a nice paved walkway with a few restaurants and public restrooms. There is also a small grassland area along the sand and a forested area on the end of the beach where you can get out of the sun and still enjoy being near the water. We didn't see anywhere to rent beach umbrellas in mid-May, but it's early in the season, which was also nice for not being very crowded. Park at the beach entrance also had a roller blading area, and sport courts. Overall, a great place to spend the day.
