    Most common way to get to the island!
    A short hop from Holwerd on the ferry will see you on the island of Ameland. The crossing takes about 45 minutes and is very comfortable. There is a little cafe on board where you'll be able to get a coffee and cake. Cars, bikes etc can be taken on board but most people travel as foot passengers. Onb either side is a terminal with toilet facilites (as well as on board) and the terminal in Holwerd has a little gift ship as well.

    It's a ferry!
    The ferry service depends in tide and weather conditions. Their twitter feed usually offers great info on actual departure times (@wpd_ameland). Generally, the ferry is fast and efficient!
