This church was founded in 1126, known as the religious cradle of the Scottish Reform. The exterior of the church is massive, with a tall tower built in 16-th century. Inside the church we saw the choir and the large nave, built in 15-th century. Here it was an important religious event, because John Knox launched the Reform in 1559, by a famous sermon. This place full of history worth a visit! See more..

    Castle Campbell image
Formerly known as the Castle of Glooms, this castle is beautifully sited upon a narrow bridge overlooked by the Ochil Hills. The 15th century fortress of Castle Campbell is dramatically situated above Dollar Glen. The oldest part is a well-preserved 15th century tower around which other buildings were constructed, including an unusual loggia. Castle Campbell was once the home of the powerful Campbell earls of Argyll, and has connections with historical figures such as John Knox and Mary Queen of Scots. See more..
  10. 4.5 The Japanese Garden (186 reviews)
    - Enjoyable visit
    Monday: Spent 2-3 hours Gardens
    The Japanese Garden image
Considering this is virtually on our doorstep we have never been before. We were not disappointed, it was lovely and well worth a visit. I disagree with comments saying it's too expensive, you have to remember this is dependant on money through the door to help develop the garden. Also the cafe food is good and again not any more expensive than anywhere else. Only down side is that the cafe can be very busy due to the size and tables inside are at a premium (weather permitting there are tables outside). I gave it 4 stars as I would love to go back in spring when the flowers are out and no doubt it would be stunning. See more..

  13. 4.5 Dollar Glen (58 reviews)
    - Great Glen even though it’s small
Monday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Spent 1-2 hours Nature & Wildlife Areas
    Dollar Glen image
It was great to have this lovey piece of Scottish Countryside to myself, although it was raining hard so that was the reason. The Glen is normally very popular with dog walkers and visitors to the splendid Caste Campbell. I had hoped so,e of the snow would have remained but sadly the rain had melted it off. Access is easy and parking is plentiful either on the approach road or in the small car park which is well sign posted. The walk is steep and muddy but has some lovely views at the top. The river cascades are also spectacular and a camera is a must. See more..

    - Stunning
    Parks
    Alva Glen image
A great sense of achievement when we got to the part at he top where we overlooked the Smuggler’s Cave! Stunning waterfalls made way to grassy hills with zig zag paths. At 64 and 86 years old, we did falter a bit at the large boulder near the top, but managed nonetheless. Our visit was after some heavy rainfall, so the water was gushing, but the paths were manageable. Fantastic views across the Firth of Forth. See more..
