  19. 4.0 Ravenscraig Regional Sports Facility (59 reviews)
    - What a great facility
Monday: 6:00 AM - 10:00 PM Sports Complexes
    Ravenscraig Regional Sports Facility image
What a great facility. At present (Oct 2021) there is ongoing Covid testing and vaccination which makes the car park very busy, but even then there are plenty of free car parking spaces. I was here taking my grandson (aged 6) to his football. About 100 kids played on the full size indoor pitch which had been marked up for 9 mini-pitches. There was even benched seating to allow us parents and grandparents to watch. The pitch can obviously be used for a full game or split to form several 5 or 7 a side pitches. It’s huge. The rest of the facility is clean. There are vending machines and a “Hall of Fame” showing local athletes who have gone onto success - often very well known. Dry impressive. See more..
  20. 4.0 Colzium House (33 reviews)
    - History & Beautiful Colzium Castle
Monday: 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM Points of Interest & Landmarks
    Colzium House image
A wonderful compact and beautiful place to take your family for a little fresh air. The walled gardens have their own unique set of vegetation. The small paths that climb up around the Glenn are picturesque and beautiful with old stone build bridges that date back hundreds of years. The curling pond is the original pond started the entire sport and during the summer months you often see swans out there gliding around. The long swooping grass down to the bandstand, made of stone, allows for many picnics and picturesque views. Tributes to various historical events - The Battle of Kilsyth - are also inscribed in the different monuments. If you have extra time to kick around this piece of Historic Scotland is well worth the visit. See more..

    Historic Sites
    Dalzell House image
This place is sensational. Natural woodland walks; Japanese garden; riverside tracks by the Clyde; hides to view wildlife. Unspoiled. The estate manor is not accessible as it is apartment dwellings. A discreet cafe would be a great addition. Didn't find any toilet facilities! See more..
  24. 4.0 Cliftonhill Stadium (12 reviews)
    - Loved my first visit to Cliftonhill. Regret not visiting it years ago.
    Arenas & Stadiums
    Cliftonhill Stadium image
I visited Cliftonhill last Friday on my way from Glasgow to Edinburgh. I was hoping to gain access to the ground to take some photographs but as I was arriving unannounced I would have been happy to snap away from outside the fence at what must surely be the brightest-looking stand in British football. When I arrived the external gate was open so I went and started taking photos of the various sections of the ground, all the time waiting for whoever was already in the stadium to invite me to clear off. As the impromptu visit proceeded, I realised that I needed the toilet. At that moment the gentleman who had obviously opened the external gate was coming out of the stand. He didn't hesitate when I asked if it was possible to use the gents and he showed me through to the dressing room toilet. It was a kind (and much appreciated!) gesture and an act of friendliness which I've recently begun to appreciate is so typical of Albion Rovers. I will be back - hopefully many times. See more..
