- 5.0 Munzur Vadisi Milli Parki (20 reviews)
-National Nature Reserve
National Parks • Nature & Wildlife Areas
This 42.674 hectars area is a national nature reserve since 1971 and is home to many regionally endemic plants (43 to be exact) and animals. It's a great place to explore especially for nature lovers. There are very few recreational areas, so, it's best to have your water and food with you when exploring the area. Except for winter when harsh climate conditions may lead to the closure of roads, the area can be visited all year long, each season having its own charm. We were there in October and it was breathtakingly beautiful. See more..
- 5.0 Sagman Mosque (1 review)
-Mosque with an Outstanding View
Spent 1-2 hours Religious Sites
Sağman (Salih Bey) Mosque is an outstanding shrine on the mountainous landscape of Eastern Turkey. It was built back in 1555 and is still in very good shape after the recent restoration. Unfortunately it's no longer in use as it was attacked by PKK terrorists back in 1993, 1994 and 1998. The community relocated their village to a safer place, built a new mosque and this one just hosts visitors, though they are very few. What is most outstanding about this mosque is the view: it's breathtaking. Though you can come to the mosque by car, I recommend to walk from Sağman village if the weather permits: the mountains are very beautiful and seeing this hundred years old mosque standing among them is very moving. See more..
- 4.5 Munzur Gozeleri (66 reviews)
-Most Touristic Place in the Area
Waterfalls
"Göze" means spring in Turkish and there are lots of springs at this part of Turkey and these springs are feeding the Munzur river. But among them, the most touristic one is this place. I say touristic because this is the place where you have street vendors, street food, tea, music etc around, the others are purely nature. We spent here around 30 minutes. We drank tea (one of the most delicious I ever had), ate a local pancake called "patila", bought vegetables, had a chat with handcraft stall holders and enjoyed the river and the nature around. There is also a shrine here where Alevites come and pray and make wishes. See more..
- 4.5 Pertek Kalesi (13 reviews)
-Not visitable but fascinating to see
Castles
This massive castle used to be on dry land, but is now spectacularly marooned in the middle of the lake after the damming of the Euphrates. To see it, take the Erzincan road out of Elazig until you hit the water. You can get an even better view by crossing the lake on the Pertek ferry, which crosses every half hour See more..

-Nice Place Amidst the Nature
Friday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Spent More than 3 hours Bodies of Water
We visited this place in the end of October, so there was no trace of beach spirit but remnants of previous summer activities were still there. We had a short break in one of the cafés, though it's hard to call it a café: just some random tables and chairs on the river side, an old lady who had only tea to serve and that's it. Nevertheless, it was a nice place amidst the nature, river running just next to us, birds singing. We like it as a short break location. See more..
- 4.5 Munzur Dağlari (9 reviews)
-Majestic Mountains
Mountains
When you travel to Tunceli, the road takes you into these majestic mountains: they are very imposing. Sometimes there are steep cliffs and then vast areas where shepherds manage the herds. I recommend to take your time, to step out the car time to time, to walk a few miles and enjoy the views and the fresh air. There are frequently patrols on the road, so make sure you have your ID card with you. See more..
- 4.5 Cemisgezek Feribotu (2 reviews)
-The Ferry with the Most Beautiful View
Friday: 7:00 AM - 11:30 PM Spent < 1 hour Ferries
We boarded on this ferry on our way to Elazığ Airport from Çemişgezek. This is small boat that crosses the Keban Dam lake, it is punctual and quite swift. I recommend you to take it towards the sunset time: if the weather permits (in our case it did), you will witness one of the most stunning sunsets of your life. If you have time, go there at least 45 minutes before, there is a shabby yet clean café just next to the port. You can have tea there and enjoy the view. See more..
- 4.0 Pertek Feribot (12 reviews)
-A real experience!
Spent < 1 hour Ferries
The ferry runs on the hour and half hour carrying cars(11TL) and passengers. Loading occurs very quickly and you need to be good at reversing!! The crossing takes about 15 minutes and you get a great view of the impressive Pertek Castle stranded on its rock as you cross See more..

-Very nice experience on Keban dam from Pertek/Tunceli to Elazığ
Friday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Spent < 1 hour Ferries
The ferry shortens to way from Tunceli to Harput/elazığ to half the time with a nice ferry break and with a nice view of Pertek castle in the middle of Keban Dam . Ferry price is very reasonable (12 TRY) for otomobiles. Frequency is twice in an hour . The road from Tunceli to Pertek and from ferry to Elazığ is very good. See more..
- 4.0 Ergen Kilisesi (3 reviews)
-Needs Urgent Support
Spent < 1 hour Ancient Ruins • Religious Sites
This church which is believed to be 1200 years old is currently in ruins and needs urgent support before it collapses all together. Located in Ergen village of Geçimli town, it's the proof of Armenian population who lived here until very recently. Very few people know about the church itself and even the elderly of Ergen village have vague memories of the lively days of this shrine. Today only the altar section, surrounding walls and a sarcophagus remains from the once imposing church and its only visitors, apart from the very few tourists like us, are the children of the village who play hide-and-seek around the ruins. Nevertheless, I believe this church is a must to see when travelling to Tunceli province as it is one of the very few witnesses of multi-cultural co-existence of different religions in the area. - 4.0 Dereova Selalesi (3 reviews)

- 4.0 Sungur Bey Cami (2 reviews)
-Re-Located Mosque
Spent < 1 hour Religious Sites
Sungur Bey Mosque was built back in 1569 on the shores of Murat River. In 1974, when Keban Dam was built, the mosque has been re-located to its current place. It was the first time such a task was carried out in Turkey and the mosque is special especially due to this re-location. The stones have been numbered before the re-location and today, when you enter the mosque, you can see those numbers on the stones, especially around the window frames. The gardens of the mosque is enchanting as well. See more..

This beautiful stone bridge is of 3 km distance to Çemişgezek town. It has been built in 1807, renovated in 1902 and is still in use. It is unusually steep for a classical stone bridge. It has vineyards around and nature around is very beautiful. This is a nice location for photographers. See more..

-Genellikle Tunceli nin Köy mezarlıklarında.
Points of Interest & Landmarks • Cemeteries
See more..

Friday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Spent < 1 hour Religious Sites
See more..

-Dating Back to 1404

This small mosque located in downtown Çemişgezek is dating back to 1404. Its original version does not have a minaret but over the years, one has been added. The only interesting feature of the mosque is that it is a good example of the architectural design transition from Seldjuk to Ottoman style. See more..

-Dating back to 13th Century
Friday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Spent < 1 hour Caverns & Caves • Hiking Trails
First mention of these small man-made caves dates back to 13th century. In fact, the holes are natural but they are enlarged by humans. It's said dervishes used to live in them. Today, no one live in them. If you want, you can walk to the caves but we did not as there aren't anything specific to see inside. We just took photos from a distance. See more..
- 3.0 Uzun Hasan Turbesi (2 reviews)
-Not in Good Shape
Spent < 1 hour Historic Sites • Cemeteries • Religious Sites
This tomb belongs to the ruler of Akkoyunlu State, dates back to mid 15th century but it's not well preserved at all. There is no sign leading to it, when you somehow find it, there is no explanation around. In fact, it's in the middle of messy garden where someone is working as a beekeeper. In short, this is unfortunately a neglected historical monument. See more..
