   There are two separate things to see in Old Palu. The Urartu Castle and the sad remains of a once thriving Armenian Town which disappeared in 1915. To get there, take the road from Elazig to Kovancilar (40km) and turn right in the town centre. As you come down the steep hill towards the river, look for the sign up to the Palu Kale hotel on the left. Follow this track for 2km or so and you will get to the castle and ruins beneath. The castle is hollowed out of solid rock, and some of the interior passageways have been opened up. You can also climb the 300 or so steps to the top on the outside.     I have been following instagram posts of the Eskibaglar hotel for a while and wanted to spend a quiet and peaceful weekend with my wife and four year old boy. The property exceeded our expectations in terms of peace be. The architecture is brand new and reflects the stone caharacteristic of Elazig city. Wine is made from the resurrected ancient Okuzgozu and Bogazkere wines of the Hittites which will take you to thousands of years old journey.
