   An organised trek/climb over snow, bolders and ravines. We started the climb at 2am from our camp and trekked to the summit in 4 hours. As with the Mount Ararat climb we climbed slowly and our guide Zeki ensured that we were safe at all times. When we reached the summit we were greeted by a fabulous view and within the crater itself we found a frozen lake and a beach!!! Climb this mountain with the correct gear; thermals, crampons (if required), poles, plenty of water and food. I took Kendal Mint Cake (from the UK) as well as it is full of sugar and gives me energy.    Kale Bitlis şehir merkezinde iki derenin ortasında, doğal ve sarp kayalıklara yapılmıştır. Kuzey güney doğrultusunda geniş bir alanı kaplayan Bitlis Kalesi’nin çevresi yaklaşık 3 kilometredir. Kayalıklar üzerinde yükselen ve burçlarla takviye edilen surlar düzgün kesme taştan yapılmıştır. 17. yüzyılda Bitlis’e gelen Evliya Çelebi’nin verdiği bilgilerden kalede bir han sarayı, çarşı, bedesten, hamam, 2 cami, pazar ve 300 ev olduğu anlaşılmaktadır.
   
   Bitlis Kalesi’nin inşa tarihi kesin olarak bilinmemekle birlikte, Büyük İskender’in komutanlarından Badlis tarafından yaptırılmış ve Osmanlı döneminde 16. yüzyıl ortalarında önemli bir onarım geçirmiştir. Bitlis'in beş minare sinden biridir. Mihrap yarım kemerli bir niş şeklindedir. Mihrabındaki motif ve kompozisyonlar ile Minaresindeki tezyinat, dikkate değer özelliktedir.     This is unbeilable place for sightseeing. The road is ok after leaving from main road up to first top near Tel'e sieges. After Tel'e sieges station it is a little bit tough. But you should drive till you reach the lake. You could find obsidian stone (volcano stone) near lake. See more..

    Very small turn off sign a short distance west of were the road out of tatvan joind the highway, right before a petol station. It looks and feels like an access road to handful of businesses, and it is. About 50 metres in it will say nemrut on the road with an arrow. It says 20km. The first 10 is very good. But as soon as you pass the chairlift, it goes rough rock or 100 or so metres and then modern cobblestone. Far to dangerous to drive at night. The view from the crest into the caldera is fabulous.     The bridge located in the district of Harabeşehir is built on the stream which separates the neighborhood. The stream is called Taht-ı Süleyman / Harabeşehir / Keş stream by local names. It is located to the west of Bayındır Mosque and the dome. It reflects the civil architectural characteristics of the Akkoyunlu people who dominated the region in the 15th century. The bridge, which belongs to the Akkoyunlu period, is in the foreground with stairs made to allow the passage of caravans and pedestals at that time although it is small. The name of the bridge was come from Emir Bayındır, who built the bridge. It is built of cut stone entirely. It is a saple of Single-eyed bridge. The bridge was repaired in 1954.     It was built in 1216 by the Seljuks. It is one of the leading science centers of our time (today's universities). According to the inscription, it was repaired in 1589 by Serefhan 5 of Bitlis khan. The masterpiece, which has all the features of classical Seljuk aesthetics in terms of architectural appearance, has been restored to be used as Archeology Museum. The madrasah was built on a rectangular plan scheme extending in the east-west direction. The rectangular form changes the five-sided protrusion in the middle of the rear façade. It was designed and implemented in the Seljuk madrasas scheme with a closed courtyard with four iwans, but some changes were made in later periods. The main iwana, which is directly opposite the entrance and joins the domed central space, is integrated into the five-sided section extending from the façade. Other places in the corners of the madrasah, the mosque in the southeast; in others, two chambers arranged parallel to the central axis. See more..

    The museum and cemetery are co-located. The museum is good, but the cemetery is excellent. Probably the best single experience in 6 weeks touring around Turkey (and there is a lot to see). The thousands of gravestones, some 2-3 metres high with Persian and Arabic inscriptions tell the story of the person, occupation and place in society.
