This is a magnificent huge lake surrounded by mountains and beautiful views, that we passed by on our way to Kars, it deserves a stop and you can spend a good time enjoying it. It get frozen in winter and has fish. Few small houses are noted around the lake. See more..

This was one of the best unknown places I visited this time in Turkey. Well of the beaten path, quite hard to reach if you don't have a car, the castle (built by the Seljuk Turks almost 1000 years ago) was a very nice surprise. There's no entrance fee, there's no one there actually, and the road that gets close to the castle is a single lane road, very picturesque and romantic. You can leave the car at the end of the road (a small parking lot there, accommodating some two cars) and go on with the adventure. Is a very nice place to camp and to go on climbing the Canyons around the Castle. See more..
