   Took the bus today 5/26 per the review before this, Thankyou! Bus is parked outside the Sugar Beet Cafe (note there is another Sugar Beet Cafe nearby on a intersecting street a block away) and departs at 10:00, it took 55 minutes to get to Ani, and leaves Ani at 13:30, current fare is 10 TLR one way and the driver will collect return fare on boarding in Kars (2 tickets given). Return to city only took 45 minutes. In addition to the ruins the scenery is great, snow capped mountains in the distance, the ravines around the site. 40 TLR entry fee. There is a snack place and shop by the entrance in a complex that is otherwise unoccupied. There are cows grazing within the site, so watch where you step. See more..

   Ani Cathedral, one of the most magnificent buildings in Ani Ancient City, was built in 989 by reconstruction Trdat. This building, which was damaged quite a lot by earthquakes over the years, started to be out of use in the 14th century. This building, also known as the Virgin Mary Church, was known as one of the important works of medieval Armenian architecture. It was converted to a mosque, called Fethiye Camii, by Alparslan in 1071 and it was transformed into a church again by Georgian King David who took the region in 1124.     Ani was an Armenian and a Christian city, a capital of Armenia, but it was eventually conquered by Seldjuk Turks, and it declined after that, today being just massive ruins. Before that happened however, the Turks chose to build this mosque. As the churches, it is built out of black and orange stone and while it seems a bit crude from outside, it is actually quite nice.     This building, also known as Halaskar Church, is one of the beautiful buildings that have partially survived in the Ancient City of Ani. The church has a half view, as its east-facing side is destroyed. According to the inscriptions on the walls of this church, which was completed in 1035, Prince Ablgarib Pahlavid built this church to display the Holy Cross from Constantinople. In addition, according to the inscriptions, in 1193, this building, which includes an external hall for the accommodation of pilgrims, underwent a restoration in 1291.     Boğatepe/Zavot Village has an ideal flora making the cheese and dairy products tastes so good. It's located about 2400 m high and unsurprisingly almost always chilly up there. Try to find Mr. Kazım Ömür -a very talented person with many participations to international meetings about cheesemaking- who may probably show you some interesting stuff about cheesemaking and also local herbal medicine at a locally initiated ecological museum. You may also taste and buy cheese from any producer in the village which is a good contribution as the villagers earn their living by cheesmaking. Bizim gibi arazi aracı olmayanlar içinse, yukarı doğru tırmanmak için bir saatten fazla zaman ayırmanız gerekli. Köyde yaşayanlar oldukça yardımseverler, ancak bir yerden sonra işiniz devrilmiş bir tabelaya ve hislerinize kalıyor. Tam tepeye gelmeden az önce vardığınız düzlükten yüzünüzü dağa vererek ve sola doğru ilerleyerek kabaca 300-400 m sonrasında büyük ve küçük panoyu görebilmeniz mümkün. Ancak Aladağ'ın doğu yamaçlarında bulunan bu panoların öğleden sonra görülebilmesi oldukça zor olsa gerek. O yüzden sabah-öğle saatlerinde gitmenizi tavsiye ederim.
