  1. 5.0 Above Laos Ballooning Adventures (189 reviews)
    - A once in a life time experience
    Balloon Rides
    Above Laos Ballooning Adventures image
We chose Above Laos for our sunset hot air ballooning trip. From start to finish, the service was very professional and we flew in a group of 7 for about 50 minutes. Following the flight, we were met with champagne, fruit and biscuits which we had forgotten about, so that was a pleasant surprise. Overall, we highly reccommend Above Laos for hot air ballooning. Although you might be able to go for slightly less money, we felt this service was worth the additional $20-$30 See more..

  3. 5.0 Yoga in Vang Vieng (45 reviews)
    - Great yoga class!
    Saturday: 7:30 AM - 6:30 PM Spent 1-2 hours Yoga & Pilates
    Yoga in Vang Vieng image
I practice yoga regularly in New York City, which has amazing studios and teachers, and the yoga class I took in Vang Vieng was superb. The yoga studio is clean and serene, on the second level of the Silver Naga Hotel. The drop-in price of $10 US dollars included mat rental (good quality Manduka yoga mats), the class itself, and access to a beautiful pool. The instructor, Whitney, was very friendly and welcoming. She had a melodic voice and I immediately felt comfortable. She started with a brief meditation and breathwork, and led us through an intelligent sequence. I took the class on a Wednesday evening, so it was a Vinyasa class, but the studio also offers Hatha, Yin, and Ashtanga style classes. There are at least two classes daily (7:30-9am and 5-6:30pm). My husband went to a morning class and enjoyed it too. I only wish I were staying longer so I could take another class! See more..

  7. 4.5 Mekong River (264 reviews)
    - Best way to travel between Luang Prabang and Chiang Khong
    Bodies of Water
    Mekong River image
We took the two day cruise from Chiang Khong to Luang Prabang and loved every moment of it. The boat was fitted out with very comfortable seats, a clean bathroom and great atmosphere. Viewing the sights of the Mekong from a traditional boat such as this was one of the highlights of our trip. The food was also excellent. Highly recommended and especially if you aren't quite up for the public boats and can't afford the expensive Luangsay Cruise. See more..
  8. 4.5 Pha Ngern View Point (97 reviews)
    - 40 minute hike with good views
    Geologic Formations
    Pha Ngern View Point image
A 40 minute hike up a mountain and you get to see the views over the countryside of Vang Vieng. Google maps actually took us past this place and it did state “Pha Ngern Silver Mountain Viewpoint” so we weren’t actually sure if we were doing the right one, however after looking at pics it appears we did. 10,000 Kip per person for entry, free parking. Railings to hold on to on the way up. Very rocky so definitely wear appropriate footwear. See more..
  9. 4.5 Nam Xay Viewpoint (50 reviews)
    - It's worth the hike!
    Lookouts
    Nam Xay Viewpoint image
The view from the top is incredible Stretching across rice paddies on one side & mountains on the other. With two motor bikes and a small wooden hut at the top, this is definitely one for those of you who like to take photos or just sit back & take it all in. We went early in the daytime which was a blessing, as I’ve been told it’s a difficult decent for those coming back down in the dark after sunset. It had been raining before we started so parts of the climb (parts are defiantly more of a climb then a walk) were pretty slippery, so be careful. I'd recommend comfy / reliable shoes that you don’t mind getting dirty, a sweat rag & water! All that being said, the hike isn't too long, its just steep & a little tiring in the hot weather. There is a small shop at the base of the hill & that’s where you purchase an entrance ticket for 10,000kip. See more..
  10. 4.5 Nam Ngum Dam (30 reviews)
    - Beautiful place
    Spent 2-3 hours Dams
    Nam Ngum Dam image
My husband and I were deciding if we should take a day trip to visit Nam Ngum Dame. I'm glad we made the trip there. 2 hours drive from the city. Most of the road is single lane. We ordered our lunch and have it on the boat. Because not so many tourist, we have the whole boat ourselves. We paid 200k kip for an hour boat ride. On our way back, visited the salt factory. It's an eye opening. Also a brief stop at the casino but is a lousy place. Can give it a miss. See more..

    - Awesome
Saturday: 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM Spent More than 3 hours Water Parks
Blue Springs & Patong cave image
The water in the Blue Springs is fed by the surrounding karst mountains and bubbles up from the bedrock after being filtered through multiple layers. it overflows in a 1200 M2 pond we created and the continuous overflow creates a creek to the back garden. The mineral water is naturally refreshed all the time. Visitors can use the accommodation, rest, swim in the pond, use the zip line or the Tarzan jump and relax in one of the huts or on the terrace enjoying a fresh meal. The surrounding nature is stunning; laid-back villages, paddy fields and gorgeous karst mountains. Our tropical back garden will lead to a cave (20 minutes visit). Bungalows are under construction as well as a larger restaurant. We plan to organise trekkings as soon as we can offer night accommodation. The restaurant will feature a 150M2 roof terrace overlooking the valley.Folkloristic activities, such as 'Basies' and wedding can take place. We are now installing M/F changing rooms/showers. 14. 4.0 Tham Nam (Water cave) (458 reviews)
    - It was a fun thing to do
    Caverns & Caves
    Tham Nam (Water cave) image
I enjoyed it and had a relaxing time tubing through the caves. It’s not an absolute spectacular thing to do but was fun and refreshing. I did it independently hired a motorbike and went myself it’s was extremely unorganised and no one there to show you or explain anything to you. I think they only care about tour companies to be honest. Lucky a private tour guide that was showing 2 Germans around said come with us and he organised getting in tune etc. No staff approached me at all? When you get on time with your helmet/light you pull yourself through the cave on ropes that are hooked up, It’s simple and easy and any age group can do it, not an absolute must while in Vang Vieng but a nice fun experience. Cost is about 20.000kip with entry, parking etc so fairly cheap. See more..
  15. 4.0 Tham Chang Cave (350 reviews)
    - Worth a visit
    Geologic Formations
    Tham Chang Cave image
Admission to the general area is 5,000 kip and then admission to the cave itself is 15,000 kip. The cave is up quite a lot of stairs which got tiring at the top. We enjoyed walking around the cave for around half an hour or so, and it makes for some cool pictures. Worth a visit for a quick trip if staying nearby. See more..

  18. 4.0 Kaeng Nyui Waterfalll (61 reviews)
    - Worth the muddy, dirty, slippery track to the falls
    Waterfalls
    Kaeng Nyui Waterfalll image
My partner and I visited the waterfalls on Sunday 21 July 2013. Although it was pretty wet, slippery, muddy, etc, it was worth the visit. The waterfalls are located in a rather remote area. There are two waterfalls in this area; Kaeng Nyui Waterfall is 30m while Kenlon Waterfall is 5m. We got a tuk-tuk organised from outside the hotel. 150,000 kip for the return trip; driver was also our guide. We lef at 10am; returned to hotel at about 2pm after lunch. Kaeng Nyui is awesome. Beware as the area can be slippery; after all, it is a waterfall area! Food is available; we had lunch there - grilled fish, boiled local chicken, som tam and sticky rice. Recommended. See more..
  19. 4.0 Tham Loup & Tham Hoi Caves (57 reviews)
    - Nothing Special
    Caverns & Caves
Tham Loup & Tham Hoi Caves image
Caves are a steep hike up, however there are railings and the steps are stable in dry weather. The caves are not too facinating the probably the best benefit of visiting these caves is the exercise you get climbing up to them. The view from the top of the caves is interesting if it is not too hazy See more..

  23. 4.0 Num Bor Keo Cave (5 reviews)
    - Hidden gem
Spent 1-2 hours Caverns & Caves
    Num Bor Keo Cave image
A spectacular find. My girlfriend and I went here by ourselves, it’s just across the wooden toll bridge out of town. Free parking there and 10k kip entry fee. The girls at the desk will give you a headlamp and offer to guide you into the cave. I STRONGLY recommend you accept their offer. I’m pretty sure they do it for free and you can give them some tips after. We went in by ourselves and walked/crawled for 30 minutes before we decided to turn back, we actually took a wrong turn on the way back and that was quite scary. We prefer to do things by ourselves but I think the guide would of really improved the experience. It’s like a sauna as you get deep into the cave so it’s probably a good idea to swim in the pool at the cave entrance after. Bring clothes you don’t mind crawling around in. We were covered in wet clay by the time we got out and backpack was torn when crawling through the narrow passages. An excellent experience but come prepared and use the guide. See more..
  24. 3.5 Tham Phu Kham Cave and Blue Lagoon (1.559 reviews)
    - So quiet
Bodies of Water • Caverns & Caves
Tham Phu Kham Cave and Blue Lagoon image
Well we heard this was a tourist trap however due to corona virus the day we visited we were the only two in the blue lagoon and the cave. We hired a buggy and drove our selves there, you pay a small fee to enter and a small fee for head torch! The climb up to the cave is quite steep, the cave itself is huge and you can explore without a guide. The lagoon was beautiful especially as we had it all to ourself See more..
  25. 3.5 Lusi and Pha Poak Caves (67 reviews)
    - Be careful!!
    Caverns & Caves
Lusi and Pha Poak Caves image
We have just come back from doing Pha Poak climb, and overall it was alright. It really is a dangerous climb with old ladders and nothing but sharp rocks to climb onto most of the way up (which I actually found quite fun climbing). However after successfully climbing up and down, and then visiting the cave nearby, on our way back the man selling tickets called us over to him. To begin with we weren’t quite sure what he wanted but then we could hear a girl on the hill screaming and falling down the side of it. She had gone off path and he had told her to go back but it was too late. We had to translate for him and call to the girl who sounded OK but was stuck, as every time she tried to walk she fell further down the cliff. The man selling tickets insisted we go climb and help her, which we were very apprehensive about in case we also fell and got stuck. We ran up part of it to try see if we could communicate with her easier or see her but she was too far round for us to get to. We ran back down and the man said he would go and get his friend, who then ran up the climb with a rope to try and find her. After a while the man told us it was OK and it sounded as if his friend had made it to the girl, but it made it pretty obvious that if you do fall and get stuck it could turn very ugly if you fall somewhere unreachable. If you plan on visiting please be careful. There is no path and it is very easy to fall at any point if you’re not confident in climbing up or down steep rocks. And make sure you stick to the path, not that there really is one... See more..

  28. 3.5 Organic Farm - Cooking Classes (9 reviews)
    - An authentic Lao Cooking Class
    Cooking Classes
Organic Farm - Cooking Classes image
We attended the cooking class at the Organic Farm and were thrilled. We could choose 3 main dishes and 1 dessert. First there was a welcome tea and a small tour of the farm including the mulberry plantation. The nice, sympathetic retired owner told the story of the farm and its development. Afterwards we could cook our dishes together with the daughter (who now runs the restaurant) and another helper. For us it was a great experience and everything seemed very authentic. The food and also the mulberry wine was very good. You just have to get into the "Lao flow" and enjoy. See more..

  30. 3.0 Tham Xang (Elephant Cave) (171 reviews)
    - Not sure it’s actually a cave!!!
    Spent < 1 hour Caverns & Caves
    Tham Xang (Elephant Cave) image
Very small cave more like an opening of space, cave is only maybe 20 metres in length and a temple takes up most of that space. Natural formation of cave does have a part that looks like an elephant which is why a gave 2 stars. Only 5000kip to enter very cheap but I think with this actual cave being an actual temple it should be for free or included in the price for entering the water caves. You only need 5 minutes for this cave that’s how small it is. See more..
