   Initially I planned on staying one night and ended up staying there for three nights. Besides clean and comfortabel rooms you also get good and local food. The owner of the homestay went out of his way to make everyone feel as comfortabel as possible and the rest of the staff is helpful and friendly as well. When you're lucky you can even observe an English class for the children there, dependending on whether there is a volunteer at the moment. Also, the host helps the village by organizing the English classes and other projects, so it's nice to support his cause by staying with him. See more..

   The statue is of the hero of Salavan who fought the French oppressors. He died in a gun battle in 1910. There is a large open area behind him where locals gather in the evening to socialize and exercise. A great place to meet local people. See more..

   This bridge was designed and built under the direct supervision of King Souphanouvong. The route it is on formed part of the Ho Chi Minh trail and was heavily bombed during the Vietnamese War by the Americans. There are plans to build a new bridge but it is still some years off. It's about 20 Km from the center of Salavan but there is interesting countryside along the route. See more..
