    The Living Land Farm image
This charming community farm just outside of Luang Prabang overlooks wonderful Rice Fields and Mountains. Rice is planted all year round and they welcome guests who want to learn about Rice planting and other farm activities like bamboo weaving, sugar cane pressing, black smithing. Visitors get to try most of the activities or can just watch. Rodolphe and Susan, the two buffaloes help with the ploughing of the rice paddies and guests can have a go too. The half day programme starts at 08.30 and finishes with a tasting of rice based snacks. The farm is shared by 9 families who also grow organic vegetables and flowers. Lunch is available too and includes a selection of typical Luang Prabang dishes and fruit. Proceeds from the Rice Experience go to supporting over 60 students with their studies and they operate free English classes for the whole village. They have a small Homestay unit made from an old granary. Booking is necessary and pick-up and return by tuk-tuk is included. See more..

    Laos Buffalo Dairy image
We came here after visiting the nearby waterfalls and we’re so glad we did! There are two types of yours, and we selected Tour 1 which was 145,000kip. This included a tour from the lovely co-founder and we got to learn about the history of the farm and up to the present day what is being done. We also got to feed pigs, rabbits and buffalo, and even got to milk buffalo! Afterwards we thoroughly enjoyed the buffalo cheese board selection for $6 and then the ricotta cheesecake for $4. I highly recommend visiting here for a unique experience in Luang Prabang, particularly as your money is going to a good cause! The treatment of the animals appears excellent and ethical, and at no point did we ever feel like they are not being cared for properly - the owner loves each and every one of them! See more..

    - Fun and exciting day in beautiful jungle surroundings
Sunday: 7:30 AM - 9:00 PM Zipline & Aerial Adventure Parks
    Nong Khiaw Jungle Fly image
This professional operation started in July 2016 and is not very well known but it deserves to do well. We were the only two people that day with 2 guides. It was quite challenging most of the time but I always felt very safe. In addition to around 10 zip lines, there are two bridges to cross and some abseiling down from high platforms. The guides are great and made it a fun day. We were going to go to The Gibbons Experience but had decided against it in the end. We stumbled on this one by chance and we are very pleased that we did. The price is very reasonable ($68 pp based on two, less for more). The full day is plenty, if you are novice or unsure, a half day will be enough. They can also organise kayaking and hiking etc. See more..

    Yensabai Organic Farm image
I came across Xay's website, and after reading about his ideals I was determined to find my way there. Take a boat from Nong Khiaw to Muang Ngoy and tell them to drop you off in Sop Keng, or hike there from either of the villages (Nong Khiaw, or Muang Ngoy). You will absolutely not regret it. Spend there a few nights if time allows and simply sink in to the environment; nature, food, silence, local village and above all excellent host. If you only have a day to spare, still go visit the waterfalls, and stop by for coffee or tea and to say hi to Xay! See more..

Less than an hour away from Luang Prabang, Kuang Si Falls is known for its milky turquoise waters. There are multiple pools scattered throughout the area; the main pool has rope swings, and an overhanging tree limb from which you can jump into the water. There's also lookout point just a short hike away, which offers panoramic views of Lao’s countryside. The falls are easily accessible and are beautiful throughout the day but visit early for fewer crowds. There are changing facilities, and several eateries in the area where you can relax and take in the views. – Tripadvisor See more..

    - Third visit in seven years
Sunday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Spent More than 3 hours Points of Interest & Landmarks
    Old Quarter Luang Prabang image
There's something about Luang Prabang that draws us back every couple of years or so and the old city is a huge reason why we always seem to revisit. Yes, it is touristy, full of tour companies and expensive restaurants and coffee shops, but it's still possible to find quiet, peaceful, shady streets by the river where hours can pass by drinking coffee and watching life on the busy Mekong or Nam Khan. Even in seven years things have changed dramatically, but it's always Luang Prabang, and to a similar extent Ubud in Bali, that seems to draw us back to its laid-back lifestyle. No doubt, once this dreadful time in which we find ourselves at present has long gone, we'll return to Luang Prabang time and time again. See more..

  26. 4.5 100 Waterfalls (107 reviews)
    - Do it, but not with Nong Khiaw Adventure Tours agency
    Parks • Waterfalls
    100 Waterfalls image
We booked the 100 waterfalls day trip with Mr Mang's agency Nong Khiaw Adventure Tours. The landscape and tour were great and we totally recommend it, but it had a completely unethical component which undermined the whole experience: we were taken to a village nearby, we were shown the school while kids were in class. We were encouraged to interact with the kids. Fellow travellers filmed them and photographed them. We will never book anything with Mr Mang again. We were very glad we didn't book the mini van to depart from Nong Khiaw via the agency when we booked the tour. In Luang Prabang we found that people are rightly so campaigning against this. Go to the 100 waterfalls but Please don't book with this agency. We'd take it back if we could. See more..

  30. 4.0 Alms Giving Ceremony (4.391 reviews)
    - Luang Prabang (Laos) - Alms Giving
Sunday: 5:30 AM - 6:30 AM Points of Interest & Landmarks
    Alms Giving Ceremony image
A wonderful ritual in the beautifuol Lao city of Luang Prabang is the early morning alms giving (for the monks that inhabit the many temples. As this is done in total silence, it is that much more special. And one aspect not to be overlooked is that sometimes a monk will take some of what he has received and almost immediately give it on to a needy person. This ritual happens at sunrise, around 6am, and takes place on the main streets of Luang Prabang. It's not hard to find, and if one isn't certian, just ask a local. See more..
