- 5.0 The Tea & Chocolate Place (201 reviews)
-Lovely tea shop
Thursday: 2:00 PM - 6:00 PM Spent 2-3 hours Visitor Centers
The Tea & Chocolate Place IS NOT a restaurant nor a coffee shop. WE DO NOT SELL FOOD OR COFFEE. We are a Visitors Center open to the public only from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm from Monday to Saturday. Since 2003, we have been working as a family to reforest steep and eroded areas around Copan Ruinas. Our objective is to serve as an educational space where you can learn about environmental issues affecting the area of Copan, at the same time learn about a variety of teas and other natural products that we make from native and foreign medicinal plants organically grown in our Copan 2012 Botanical Research Station. Our center is located in a peaceful, garden-like setting with amazing views of the mountains. We only offer a Tea Menu where you can choose from 20 different medicinal teas, or enjoy our hot chocolate beverage made from ground cacao beans (along with a small traditional local snack) while watching the sun go down. If you are hungry we recommend that you eat before, or plan for dinner See more..
- 5.0 Finca el Cisne (122 reviews)
-FANTASTIC!!!!
Farms
Finca el cisne is rated #7 in things to do while in Copan, but after visiting Copan for 15 years, and doing all the possible experiences, I would rate it as #1.... the people, the food, the learning, the exciting possibilities. Carlos is the BEST host- funny, knowledgeable, polite, thoughtful.... We felt like we were pampered Honduran style and our groups were 28 and 23 people. Do NOT miss this opportunity to learn from a family that is giving its all to Honduras- their country that they love See more..

Thursday: 7:00 AM - 9:00 PM Sightseeing Tours
Being in a foreign country and not being fluent in the language is hard. Hector was our driver and guide for 4 days to Copan and Tela. He helped us with all our interactions. Including shopping for souvenirs !! He knew the restaurants with the best food, price and atmosphere. He made sure all our needs and wants were met. We have already booked him for our next trip in March 2023. 100 % recommend his tour services. See more..

-Magnificent Tour & Guide
Multi-day Tours • Taxis & Shuttles • Private Tours • Day Trips
Kerim Perdomo was the perfect guide and provided a magnificent tour of the Copan Ruinas Archaeological Site and many other attractions during a 3 day tour from San Pedro Sula to Copan Ruinas. Highlights included: El Puente Archaeological Park, Macaw Mountain Bird Park & Nature Reserve, the village of Copan Ruinas & the ultimate attraction of the Copan Ruinas Archaeological Site! Kerim introduced me to the Honduran people, economy, politics, culture and cuisine during our time together. No doubt, I adopted a new perspective and respect of Honduras as a whole as a result of my time with Kerim. He is incredibly knowledgeable, friendly and focused on entertaining and fulfilling every need of his guests. See more..
- 4.5 Copan Ruinas (1.672 reviews)
-Magical Mayan ruins like nowhere else
Spent 2-3 hours Ancient Ruins
Copan Ruinas valley of Kings, Sacred Valley of the Red Scarlet Macaw. Copan Ruinas is an ancient city in the Mayan Empire. Located in western Honduras at just under 10 minutes from the border with Guatemala el Florido. More than 138,000 visitors came here in 2017, the lowest in years but with a slight increase in traffic in comparison to 2015. Many agree the bad condition of the road plays an important role to this lack of traffic. Hopefully in 2018 will be better. See more..
- 4.5 Macaw Mountain Bird Park & Nature Reserve (836 reviews)
-Beautiful birds - a must visit
Thursday: 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM Nature & Wildlife Areas
A multi - faceted eco-tourism project on ten heavily forested acres in a stream fed valley, only six minutes by vehicle from Copan Ruinas Central Park. Macaw Mountain Bird Park and Nature Reserve provides our visitors a very personal encounter with the fascinating birds of Honduras in a stunning natural setting. It is a relaxing, educational and quite memorable experience and your visit will help support our goals of aviary conservation and free macaw reproduction. See more..
- 4.5 Luna Jaguar Hot Spring (379 reviews)
-Special hot springs pools in the middle of nowhere
Hot Springs & Geysers
You need to travel for over an hour on very bumpy dirt roads from Copán Ruinas. Difficult for a 2 wheel drive cars. Stop at the Macaw bird sanctuary on the way!!! You have to pay 15$ per person: you get a little tour by friendly locals, and you can spend time going from tepid to warm small pools to sample the water among beautiful foliage and trees. Surprisingly there were no mosquitoes! Low key, relaxing and safe place to experience volcanic natural spa. Tasty local coffee to sample in the cafeteria. The gardens are well looked after, everywhere is clean, with toilets and changing rooms. See more..
- 4.5 Hieroglyphic Stairway (334 reviews)
-Amazing
Points of Interest & Landmarks
Amazing staircase, but it probably doesn't deserve its own location on Trip Advisor. It's part of the Copan Ruins, go see them all! See more..
- 4.5 Sculpture Museum (294 reviews)
-Great museum--don't miss it when you visit Copan!
Speciality Museums
Many of the original art from the archaeological site actually is kept in the museum. The museum is well-designed and very spacious to offer visitors a great experience. The quality of the exhibits is high, and they are generally well-described. I would recommend visiting the ruins first. This allows you to see the artifacts in the museum within their larger context. See more..
- 4.5 Mayan Ball Court (121 reviews)

- 4.5 Amphitheatre (45 reviews)
-Great Take
Ancient Ruins
I do not agree with the previous reviewer, perhaps they should have gone to Disney World instead. The mere size and age of this historic landmark is incredible. I would recommend you spend the extra money and hire a guide if you want more insight, it's worth the investment. Our guide was Julio, a former archaeologist's assistant on the project. This amphitheater is rich piece of history to be appreciated. We were able to climb the steps while visiting. Combined with the rest of Copan this sight is spectacular. Well worth the trip. See more..
- 4.5 Iglesia Catedral (35 reviews)
-An Oasis
Churches & Cathedrals
So many of these beautiful little churches in all towns around Honduras. This one stands in front of a small park as many do. You do not have to be religious to appreciate the architecture, and the purpose. People are fiercely proud of their community and the hub being the church bringing hope and prayer as necessary. Worth a look indeed. PS great coffee house right next door you should not miss out on either. See more..
- 4.5 Welchez Copan Coffee Tour (26 reviews)
-One of the best attractions in the Copán Ruínas region
Coffee & Tea Tours
Come here if you love coffee and want to impress your friends with your new knowledge of the growing process. Everything about the coffee tour was wonderful: the excursion to the top of the trails, the view of the coffee crops and other resident flora like cardamom and achiote, the roasting plant, and the coffee lab. The three-course meal at the restaurant by the waterfall was exquisite. The best part was actually our guide Javier, whose passion for coffee oozes through his pores. We will be back. See more..
- 4.5 Mayan Ruins of El Puente (20 reviews)

A lot of history, to understand the Mayan Culture,This is an amazing place you must visit when you pass by la Entrada See more..
- 4.5 Sitio Arqueologico Rastrojon (18 reviews)
-A "dig" still being actively developed
Historic Sites • Points of Interest & Landmarks • Scenic Walking Areas
I visited with a small tour group, so we had a guide to tell us about it. Site was earthquake damaged hundreds of years ago, so led to its being abandoned. Opportunity to observe Maya construction techniques, as toppled and fractured structures reveal internal "secrets". Rastrojon may have been a military outpost, outlying principle site at Copan. Archeologists still work here seasonally. Free, and a short walk from the Clarion Hotel, about a mile out of town. See more..
- 4.0 Main Square (143 reviews)
-Nice
Points of Interest & Landmarks
It’s nice and pleasant to sit down in the heat and relax. Nice park with mayan monuments. In mid January the Christmas decoration was still out. Also it was lightning in the evening. Tuk tuk ride is $1. Souvenir shops and restaurants are around. See more..
- 4.0 Sepulturas (126 reviews)
-Las Sepulturas-Copan-Honduras
Historic Sites • Historic Walking Areas
Las Sepulturas is not only some buildings linked together. ("Las Sepulturas" -cemetery ) It is very important to take a guide with you for a small cost of about 300 lempiras. Walking with the guide in ruinas de Las Sepulturas you will find out that ancient Maya people lived, slept and worked together with their dead relatives. The guide will show you tombs and will tell you the stories about this wonderful part of ruins. There are things to see there. By the way-the guide speaks Spanish :) See more..

- 4.0 Parque Arqueologico Rio Amarillo (6 reviews)
-Soak it in. History comes alive.
Spent < 1 hour Ancient Ruins
Great place to wander about. You can touch history, sit on it and appreciate the amazing engineering that went into creating these structures. An amazing civilization that thrived for centuries and then abandoned the area. A must see if you are traveling in the area of Copan. See more..

- 4.0 Luna Jaguar Spa Resort (2 reviews)
-Relax total.
Spas
See more..
- 4.0 Transporte Sultana (1 review)
-Ubiquitous service throughout Honduras
Bus Services
We have used the Sultana bus company a number of times throughout our travels in Honduras. There have been a mix of comfort levels depending on the bus we get on, but all generally comfortable. We had an a/c shuttle bus from Ocotopeque to Santa Rosa de Copan, older but comfortable coach buses with no A/C to San Pedro, then a well decked out A/C coach with disco lights and plush curtains from San Pedro to La Guama! Prices were reasonable at between 100Lp to 150lp depending on destination. You can get a ticket at the bus station in major centres or pay on the bus. The security aspects are more lax than other providers such as Cristina, however thankfully this has not resulted in any issues for us. See more..
- 3.5 Museo Escolar Casa K'Inich (27 reviews)
-More than expected
Thursday: 8:30 AM - 12:00 PM, 1:30 PM - 5:00 PM Spent < 1 hour Speciality Museums
Our family just visited the museum today and were pleasantly surprised. Some of the interactive displays don't work and there are spelling mistakes in some of the descriptions, however the our kids didn't mind and were thoroughly entertained. Worth a visit with younger kids. See more..
- 2.0 Mayan Hills Butterfly Museum (1 review)
-Not many butterflies
Spent < 1 hour Speciality Museums • Nature & Wildlife Areas
A local told us not to bother, but we had a little time to kill so took a tuk tuk to the site which is too far to walk on the edge of town. The entry was only a couple of bucks, but it was barely worth the admission price as there were so few butterflies and maybe only 5 or 6 different types. I have been to butterfly farms in both Ecuador and Nicaragua that put this one to shame. Don't waste your time See more..
