Great museum--don't miss it when you visit Copan!

Many of the original art from the archaeological site actually is kept in the museum. The museum is well-designed and very spacious to offer visitors a great experience. The quality of the exhibits is high, and they are generally well-described. I would recommend visiting the ruins first. This allows you to see the artifacts in the museum within their larger context.

    Beautifully Collected and Displayed
    This is a great collection to see before or after the main ruins. It may be more meaningful to see the ruins first. Nice collection. Good English signage. You need 1-1.5 hours to see it all. Highly recommend. If this review is helpful then please indicate so below.

    The Best of the Sculptures
    Many of the stelae and carvings have been moved here to protect them from weather and erosion. There is a full color mock up of one of the structures revealing how it would have looked at the height of the site when all the structures were painted. Very well done with explanations in Spanish and English
