More than expected

Our family just visited the museum today and were pleasantly surprised. Some of the interactive displays don't work and there are spelling mistakes in some of the descriptions, however the our kids didn't mind and were thoroughly entertained. Worth a visit with younger kids.

    Looks Like a Castle
This building was quite unique, looked like a medieval castle from the outside, but did not have a moat. Had towers at each of the four corners and each had a ladder which allowed you to climb and get on top of each tower to look around and take pictures. The museum was closed when I was there so I cannot comment on it.

Lots to learn before visiting the Ruins! good but tired exhibits.
Museum is in part of castle-type structure on top of a hill, you can get a good look at Copan from here. In front of the building, there is a shrine to an image of the virgin Mary that is said to have appeared after some burning took place, interesting tidbit. Exhibits are interesting, and you'd do go to go here before the ruins as you'll learn many things that would make sense once you are there. Sadly, many exhibits are broken, some floor tiles are loose and bulging, and the place is a bit dirty which makes it look sad. Kids will enjoy the hands-on parts. This is a short stop though, 1 hour at most, longer if you walk there and back. Or you could take a tuk tuk there and walk downhill, just beware of the cobblestones if you are walking after the rain, very slippery!
