Amazingly beautiful!A must to see when in Yangshou, I can stand there for hours and just admire the landscape. I was fortunate to see it in fairly clear weather before it covered up with cloud and rain started , but once the rain stopped it was an awesome sight to see how the mist rise from the mountains and dissapear before the sun. This isn't much of a tourist attraction, so there won't be many big tourist bus and hoards of tourist. It is nested in a smaller village, basically the bridge is over 500 years old and not restored, which makes it good for photo taking. It is popular among wedding couples for their photo shoots. The water was calm and most parts were clear that you could see water plants and small fishes. Price for bamboo rafting was on the high side, 300rmb for 4 people, up stream and down, probably takes an hour and over. We had a nice and patient boatman, and we even took over and did some rafting ourselves too, which was fun for the kids. The best thing about this visit was discovering the the Ruyi Peak cable car on the way back. We stopped off there - now that’s an attraction! Best viewed from bamboo raft on the river which we did, really cheerful and good energy by all the boatman and their passengers. Note the one boatman on his cell. An entire family are having lunch on their bamboo raft seated at a table with benches. So very social and friendly. The Xingping Fishing Village is the place that feels like a blast from the past. The buildings are ancient well preserved building that looks like pre-war building with national flags hanging. The shops are commercialised selling poor imitations of beer fish or local Guangxi dishes. There are also local souvenir shops selling most cheap looking over priced items. Nevertheless the area has a unique charm as it is surrounded by beautiful karst mountains and barren grasslands. When you blend the two together, there is a unique tranquil peaceful feeling you don't usually experience. My advice is to have a heavy late breakfast before you go there. The food and shops are forgettable. But the ambiance is worth the visit. To enjoy the calm and peace, you can also order coffee at cafes there, and just sip slowly to appreciate the joy of being in a blast from the past. See more..

We ended up in Jiuxian because our lodging was here, but frankly, anyone that comes to china sees plenty of cities. You come to Yangshuo to see the area that Jiuxian is. Mountains, rivers, rice paddies, greenery, hikes, peaceful farming village. NOTHING COMMERCIAL. It is amazing and should be a UNESCO world heritage site. All this and you can get excellent lunch or dinner or just a drink in a cool environment at the Secret Garden hotel if you are not staying there. See more..

We took a tour vehicle to come to this attraction. Our original destination was only the place whose picture is on the RMB 20 Yuan note. But the tour vehicle driver recommended the Jiuma Mountain (meaning "Nine Horse Mountain"). You have to see this, really, don't miss it. I am not a show person and loved it. The transport back after the show can be a hassle. It is not far and not easy to find a taxi or ecart. So best to arrange hotel to get tickets for you and have someone take you there and back. If you see signs showing 50RMB in Chinese down the town, they are mountain side places, local houses or nearby viewing terraces the locals have made. Horrible place. There was tourist trap written all over it. 80RMB just to get in to wait an hour to start the tour. At least 30-40 people in the tour. The women gave a boring speech about the cave's history and the different structures of the cave. Upon entering, your are overwhelmed by the number of Chinese tourists fighting to take a picture of the "natural" formations. We eventually walked well ahead of the pack and made our own fun little tour (recommended). The entire place was lit up in glory which is common to see in China. The next complaint I'm writing to is for Green Peace because they had a large sea turtle trapped in a little box for public viewing. So cruel. Then there was a gift shop and fake hot springs and mud baths (see above complaints). Looking at the pictures, I'm starting to wonder if the entire place was just cement and lights. Out for a trek whilst staying in the Yangshuo area at the Zen Garden Resort in the next village down the road. Enjoyed the reprieve from the heat of the day. Nice crystal caverns with stalagmites, a mud bath and a hot spring ... which we surely would have partaken had we been equipped with bathing costumes. Alas it was a nice journey into the limestone mountains, and also welcome vendors of beverages, plus flush toilet facilities. Bring your own paper and hand sanitizer as always. See more..

I visited this place on my bike ride to the moon hill. Basically it's a very old and a very big tree, apparently 1500 year old. I would say it's quite impressive, but it would be better if it's not fenced off and having 100s of tourists walking around taking photos. The entry fee is 20 Yuan, which is not bad but if it's a worthwhile investment to see an old tree, I'll leave it to you. Walk in walk out 5 min max, here are some photos, if you decide to bypass it.
