   I have been living locally in this area for 3 years and after my recent visit I cannot believe I did not go here before. It truly provides some of the most beautiful mountain scenery that can be seen anywhere in the world. If this area was found in Europe it would be world famous. The entrance fee, steep at 125rmb is worth every penny once you get up into the mountain peaks and look down on the clouds from the tops and it is possible to spend a whole day here.    I went with ETravel. Nick was my group leader, he was very good and knowledgeable. The hike was beautiful and challenging but worth every minute.    Danzhu Virgin Forest scenic area got revealed through the word of mouth of backpackers. It has beautiful mountains, The view is so great while the bus driving along the curly mountain road..sometimes felt scared while looking down through the window, sometime you shocked by those amazing view in front of you. The highlight is the best place for swimming here。Three natural ponds near together, like amusement park, you can sliding down from the upper pond or jump down from the rock. It is even hardly disturbed by other travelers during the swimming. That's why we had great fun over there. It's also good for families traveling here. as the creek in front of the hostel is purely clear. you can play ball game or boat rafting or BBQ nearby the creek. It's all worth it to go for the weekend even it might takes 5 hours by bus or 3.5 hrs by car from Shanghai. See more..

    The history of this place is that it was a lively trade town that dried up after the trade route it served closed. The visuals are pretty dreary - grey and old. I understand that the interesting part of the town burned down some time ago. I visited during lull season though, so there were no performances, which could have made the town more interesting and lively. See more..
