-Nice but touristic spot at the Lugu Lake
Historic Sites • Beach & Pool Clubs
Lige is a small Town at the Lugu Lake with mainly small Inns, Restaurants and some Bars to cater for the Tourists. There is not much real life going on. Boats can be rent for a small trip on the lake. I recommend to rent a small motorbike and spent one day riding around the lake with various stops on the way. This will give a good insight on the local life. In Lige a must do is eating the BBQ Pork. See more..

One can't see how clean the water is without taking the Zhucao boat. The lake is full of sea weeds with beautiful little white flowers floating on the water. See more..

-An Unique Cultural Village
Thursday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Historic Sites
Lugu is known as the home of the unique Mosuo culture. We visited a village elder's house in Loushui Village arranged by An Peng and Zhou Ma of China Highlights on 19 Apr 2017 (Wed). We received a customary welcoming wine offer and were given a good description of the Mosuo culture and believes. It is an interesting culture ('Kingdom of women', 'Walking marriages' and 'Husband and wife remain in their respective maternal homes') which is uniquely different from where we come from. We were also entertained to a 'Bonfire party' show depicting seeking for blessing and peace ceremony at night. See more..
- 4.5 Liwubi Island (3 reviews)
-瀘沽湖五個半島之一,湖上摩梭人居住最早的一個島,四面環水,綠樹成蔭,風景優美。
Thursday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Islands
See more..

-One of a Kind
Thursday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Religious Sites
Our tour guide, sophia from Keith Lyons Tour Service, took us to many local sites not often seen by touists. One of these was the beautiful Zhiyun Temple. As we approached the drive up to the temple, there was a beautiful, painted entrance way depicting the year of the lamb. Very unusual columns lined the road up to the monastary. Prayers written by the monks on different colored flags hung from many of the trees before you entered the temple. We learned so much about the life of the monk and were surprised to see young boys around 7 /8 years old running around. It is well worth your time to visit. See more..
- 4.0 Liwubi Temple (6 reviews)
-Tibetan Buddhist Temple
Religious Sites
Took a traditional boat from Luoshui Jetty. The weather was good and the journey quite scenic. The crossing to the island on which the temple is situated takes about 30 minutes to reach. As you have already guessed lots of steep steps to reach the top. Firstly you will come across three stupas at the top of the first staircase and a temple complex at the top of the second longer winding staircase. Images of Buddha are in the main temple hall and photography is not allowed inside. Rest a while to get your breath back and the ascend the long marble staircase. You will reach the top temple, much lighter than the lower and with four attractive tangad’s on display. Plenty of Tibetan monastic prayer wheels everywhere. Great views from the top towards Luoshui. Although a temple was on this island from 1634, the present temple dates from 1999. The temple is small but quite famous in the region. Not suitable if you are disabled or unable to climb approximately 200+ steps, and another 200 down again. Makes for a nice half day adventure. See more..
- 4.0 Gemu Mountain (3 reviews)
-Gemu or Nüshenshan (Goddess Mountain) 女神山
Bodies of Water • Mountains
Ascending by cable car was amazing, extremely steep. You could see elaborate trail markings in the mountainsides from the monkeys foraging. The cable car lets out to a steep long staircase (prepare to get out of breath from high altitude, and to see friendly monkeys along the way) that leads to a Buddhist temple, and priests are there to give you incense for a donation. The view of the lake should be spectacular, but was not on that particular day due to a forest fire nearby. We decided to get on down if the fire got too close to us. There was actually charred mountain side in our view, likely from another fire that had occurred before we were there. Don't miss learning about the native Musuo people and their interesting, ancient culture, and tradition known as walking marriage. See more..

- 3.5 Mosuo Folk Museum (5 reviews)
-Ethnologically interesting
Thursday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Art Museums
Visited this temple this afternoon with our tour guide. Additionally the museum provides a guide if you are in groups. Interesting collection of active beehives from hollowed out tree trunks in the courtyard - I have only ever seen this method of bee keeping in Yemen previously. Agricultural tools are on display and then you entre the indoor part of the museum. Mosuo is a matriarchal ethnic group and the museum has photographs of social and spiritual gatherings and implements, ornaments tools are on display. Some of the guide boards are in English, but those that are are perhaps difficult to understand. There is a reconstruction of a house an here a basic introduction is given. The importance of the Mountain God and reverence for the tiger are all part of their spiritual beliefs. I gained some understanding but for clarity would need to read further. The hidden gem of the visit is the textile shop which has so many inexpensive bargains - great for gifts. See more..
