2014年的三月三，翡翠谷山庄新推出一项比较好玩的活动---擂糍粑，柳州融水的擂法。就是备一个石窝及几根竹棍，将蒸熟的糯米放入石窝内，然后几个人就用竹棍对着糯米趁热不停的擂，直至擂成浆糊状，然后用棍将成浆糊状的糯米取出放入盘子内，用水揉搓成自己喜欢的形状，再粘上山庄备好的花生芝麻酥食入，味道好极了。这一项活动至少3人以上才好玩，擂制糍粑比较好的经评选还有奖励哟。本人先期体验了一回，特放入网上供大家参考。 See more..

This park is equal to or even better than anything I saw in Guilin, and admission is FREE. It has so many hills with incredible views if you want to enjoy a hike or find a quiet spot to relax, and the air is unbelievably fresh. Another reviewer called it "Liuzhou's lung" and I'd have to agree! In the spring, you can see the peach blossoms blooming, and in the summer the array of butterflies is fantastic. If you climb up one of those hills and sit down for a moment, often a butterfly will land on your shoulder or knee. See more..

Yufeng Mountain (鱼峰山 - yú fēng shān) means "Fish Peak Mountain" as the karst hill has teh appearance of a fish leaping from the water. The hike to the top is strenuous, so many people take the cable car, at least for the ascent. From the top there is a great view (weather permitting) of central and northern Liuzhou with the River Liu 柳江 - liǔ jiāng) winding around the city. I like some of these viewing stones even more that I like bonsai, and the viewing stone market in Luizhou is a great place to see them. Most years there is an international stone festival held here. The market is interesting to wander around for half an hour but i was particularly impressed by one gallery at the front, where they had some really beautiful examples at crazy prices. You do not need to use a riverboat to enjoy it and I think it's best seen from the opposite bank. We visited this park today. What a beautiful and pleasant surprise it was! Beautiful flowers were in bloom. Wide walking paths to traverse the park's various areas. Above all a sense of serenity and peace. It takes about 35 minutes to drive to the park from the center of Liuzhou, but is well worth the time. Highly recommend a visit to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. See more..

Ma'an Shan (马鞍山) means Horse Saddle Hill. It is so named as the shape of the hill near the city center resembles a saddle (if you squint properly!). This is all that the remains of the old city walls, although thre is more buried under more recent development. The building is a populkar photography spot for wedding pictures, but there isn't really much to see. Upstairs is a small Taoist temple and a mockup of the city with its wall and other gates. Jiangbin Park (江宾公园) or Riverside Park is a long narrow park beside the River Liu in the centre of Liuzhou. A pleasant park with a few surprises. Odd statues, nice gardens, places to watch the locals doing their laundry or swimming in the river, musicians playing etc. Just behind the park about halfway along is a rare church - in fact most of the building is a rather seedy hotel, but part is used as church. I live nearby and, far from being a small art museum as has been suggested, this is a large three storey museum with displays of Paleontology (including locally found fossils), Liuzhou Historical Culture, Liuzhou Minority Customs, Ancient Bronze Arts and Ancient Fan Painting & Calligraphy etc. There is a small art gallery on the first floor which holds temporary exhibits, but that is just a tiny part of the place. Exhibits are only labelled in Chinese The museum is open every day except Mondays, from 9 am to 5 pm (last entry 4 pm). See more..

During the day, it's fun to go to the park and hike up the mountain. The towers are very pretty up close, and you can go up in them. The towers look like they are on two separate hills, but actually they are connected. It's very easy to hike up first to one tower and then to the other. There is also a temple at the top of the mountain. It only takes about an hour and a half to do the whole thing. At night, it's fun to go to the square in the park and look at the downtown lights. The Sun and Moon towers are really beautifully lit up at night, but if you want to get a good view of those, it's best to go across the river and get a picture from the Wan Cheng bridge. It's difficult to get a good picture of the towers at night up close. See more..

Liuzhou is well known for its Fantastic Stone Festival, held irregulary, but usually every second year. Collectors come from all over China and beyond to see unusual-shaped stones which are often used with bonsai to create wonderful artificial landscapes. The range is amazing. But there is no neeed to attend the festival as this museum of stones is open year round. There is a very popular Chinese banquet set out in one hall here, in which all the food is stone. These are not carved or otherwise created but this is how they were found. Some are like abstract sculptures, but again are natural. They may have been polished, but that's all. See more..

Ho Chi Minh lived in exile in China for some time, and for a while in this small house in Liuzhou, now inside the grounds of a middle school. The house has been preserved as in his times and contains pictures and a few momentoes of his stay. Exhibits are labelled in Chinese and Vietnamese only.
