   If you read chinese, you can learn about Qiu Fengxia at the house museum. If you don't you can read about him on the internet first. In either case, you get to wander round a well preserved house in the Weilongwu style. See my review of Changton resort for other things you can do on a day trip around Jiaoling. See more..

   The resort is located on the banks of the reservoir used to generate electricity for Jailing. You can get a boat ride across the reservoir to some trails up the mountainside and a tea house (50 yuan per person). In October they say the leaves on the trees near the reservoir will be spectacularly red. This could be part of day trip in and around the city, if you had a driver and an interest in history, to Qiu Fengxia's house, Xie Jinyuan's house, Luo Fuxing's house, and the Baima flower garden all in the immediate vicinity of Jiaoling. You could have lunch for a very reasonable price at Fung Jia Farm restaurant very near Qiu Fengxia's house. They grow their own vegetables on the spot. See more..

   This is a winding drive in the mountains and forests above (and to the east of) Jiaoling on a deserted and very winding road. There really isn't anywhere to stop except: (1) at the city's water reservoir and (2) at the Buddha Tree temple (which is a separate attraction). Nevertheless the views are often spectacular (especially on a day on which the mountains appear in and out of the clouds). The only person who won't enjoy the views is the driver, who must pay close attention to the road. See more..
