   We went to this place last weekend. Even though you have to pay 80 kuai entrance, it is not that commercialized yet and you only find two places on top of the mountain which sell water and snacks. Very nice scenery and a good hike, clean nature and a nice temple (not sure how old, but beautiful). We went by bus to Lanxi, then took a bus to Zhuge Bagua Cun and from the same busstation you can find a little greyish bus going to the bottom of the area. From the street where you can get off you walk maybe 10 min until you reach the ticket office of the scenic area. Needed time to visit is around 2-4 hours, depending if you take the cable car up the hill or if you walk. Take enough water as there are no supermarkets close and on top of the mountain the water is quite expensive. See more..

   I arrived mid afternoon after cycling from Qiandao Hu and took a punt I would be able to find somewhere to sleep. By chance a local young man was also riding back home and we struck up a conversation (I am learning Mandarin), he took me directly to the door of a well equipped private accommodation with en-suite, right in town near Western Hill Memorial Temple. I am sure if you went to the temple and make sleeping signs someone would do the same for you, the locals are so friendly. I was then able to stroll this beautiful village in the evening and morning when the light just makes the reflections and building magical. I saw the usual farming activities and also the early morning market in full swing before tourists came into town. There are many old structures and public buildings to visit and friendly locals if you are lucky. This village is very authentic and has not been commercialised. Highly recommended. See more..

   This area makes a good outing especially during the cooler months. It seems to be off the list of the usual tourist spots, for some reason. Its actually a beautiful place, and the temples are quite amazing, hugging the sides of the cliffs precariously. we have a great morning here, amidst the sea of clouds that would sometimes flow by in the most mystical manner.
