   Shibaoshan Singing Festival starts on July 27 ( according to the Lunar Calendar).Thousands of local people and more and visitors are coming to Shibaoshan,they will play a dragon dance, make a camp fire, through a bamboo dragon into the fire, then dance and sing folk songs for three days as a celebration for a special event. You can learn the legend of Singing Festival in Baoxiangsi Temple in Shibaoshan Mt. There is a hall for the statues of Ten Boys and Ten Girls who fought with the dragon. If you want to feel the atmosphere of the singing festival, please come to visit us in Shibaoshan on Sep 2nd this year, because it is July 27 in the Lunar Calendar again!    This is possibly the most peaceful and secluded of all the holy spots in China, and you can experience it without hordes of tourists. I only wish I could have spent more time hiking around to the various grottoes and temples. See more..

   This cannot compare to the views of Tiger Leaping Gorge (non-touristy bits), but still worth a visit if you like hiking. It is a 1.5 hour drive from Lijiang and near the Shaxi Old Town. You pay an entry fee (approx. 50 kuai) to get in, and then a further fee (approx. another 30RMB) for the shuttle bus to get around the place. The area is split up into 3 main sections, the Baoxiang Temple （宝相寺）around 2km from the entrance, the Shilong reservoir （石龙水库）another 2km on and the Shizhong Temple/Shizhongshan Grottoes (石钟山石窟） another 10km in. All are worth visiting, and you can do some decent hiking around the Shizhong Temple. Food options within the mountain area are very limited, so best to eat a good meal beforehand.    If you have any interest in historical architecture, this building is fascinating. It's on the ist of Chinese cultural relics protection. It is situated on the Tea and Horse Caravan Trail and is in the style of both the Ming and the Bai minority culture. There are a few stairs to enter the temple. The entrance fee is small.    Our guide recommended the trip to Qianshi Mountain and we have really enjoyed it. Its not overrun at all. There are obviously hundreds of steps to climb but its worthwhile to see the hundereds of stone lions that got carved there into the walls. The beautiful landscape gives this place a special atmosphere. The climb to the lion king is worthwhile since the outlook is nice but obviously the lion has been created only 20 years ago. We did not got to the tower on top of the hill since our guide advised its not worthwhile. We left in the morning at 9am in Lijang and came back around 3pm. See more..
