We came here to hide away from the heat wave of the summer in Shunde between our gastronomical meals of lunch and dinner. The visit to the museum turned out to be an excellent surprise. The exhibits about Bruce Lee, the gastronomical history of Shunde and its appointment as one of the eight gastronomical cities by Unesco, the "comb sister", the silk industry and the other ways of life of Shunde in the past and the present. There were some English explanations provided. We ended up spending almost 3 hours in this place. See more..

National forest park and national geological park with lots of hiking options, gardens (peach, bamboo etc.) and the Buddha as main attraction. Ask before you go on one of the buses which direction, they take different turns sometimes. Great for taking pictures and there's some amazing views as well. It is a nice place to see an ancient kiln built during the Ming Dynasty (1500s). The entrance fee is 25 RMB. You can pay by AliPay or WeChat Pay. You can see a lot of ceramic/pottery. Also, there are different vendors available as well for you to purchase your own pottery. On the right side of the main entrance where you can go visit the restrooms, there are available shows for you to watch. (Maybe 8 shows). You can watch a clown make balloons and spin the colander. He also interacts with the audience. Afterwards, you can see a pottery master show you how to sculpt firsthand. It's a lovely park and a good place to escape from the sprawling urban areas of Shunde District - a must-see attraction. There's free admission - a lake surrounded by traditional style Chinese pavilions and the hill-side Baolin temple (West gate). There's a massive archway at the entrance of the park (not far from the Shunde Marriott Hotel). You can rent bicycles, some tandem and some for three riders and the whole family. Boats can be rented on the lake. In the evening you can watch Chinese people gather for Tai Chi, dancing, keep fit and rollerblading. After dusk the area is flood lit and if you do happen to be staying at one of the nearby hotels there are great views to be had from high. Daqitou village is situated near Leping city, Guangdong Province. You can get there by bus from JiaoKou bus station to Leping, and then walk ~1.5-2km along the road. Entrance ticket costs only 10 Yuan. Inside you can find a pond, a park around it, small pagoda, statue of general Zheng, museum, and, sure, a village itself. Walking within village on its roads, entering houses, and sometimes going up to second floor is really exciting. There're no many tourists, so you can enjoy silence too. Recommended time to spend is around 3 hours. So, including road from and to Guangzhou, it will be a half of day. See more..

The institute was quite close to Foshan Ancestral Temple, then it moved to a new location. When I was there in April 2018, I found out the real estate was sold to some developers and the business has moved. I talked to some people there, they didn't know exactly where the institute would be moved to. It was kind of sad to find out that news. They told us to check out the showroom, which is right by the back entrance of Foshan Ancestral Temple. We bought some nice gift there. After the showroom, you can walk around that area. The "New World" district is quite close by. We liked that area. It used to be residential area with those typical southern China style housing with those "cross-bar" door. They turn that into shops and restaurants, very cute area to check it out. See more..

Spent 3 weeks in the local area within a 50 kilometre radius and ventured out one day on a chinese tourist bus tour to Sanshui, which took us to parts of the Sanshui Forest Park. As it was all in chinese and no english, a lot of the history of the park was missed, but still a beautiful place. the park occupies more than 3366 acres and is only 2 klm from the city centre. One of the big draw cards is the large lying Buddha reputed to be the largest lying buddha inn the world. It is manmade and carved into the hillside beside a small lake, with a beautiful temple and pagoda overlooking the entire scene. Make sure that you go under the temple and see the beautiful carvings on the wall (in marble?) depicting warrior scenes. Just beautiful and simple. There is also a very sad crocodiile park within the forest, coming from Australia, they were very sad looking individuals, the only thing at that point of interest were the live chicken areas near the crocodiles, kept for fresh food!!! There are many entrances to the park, and our bus drove us around to several of the entrances. For me the most beautiful time was one of the temples, still have not been able to find the name of it, as everything obviously in Chinese. a large temple, with large steps leading up the hill, some beautiful ceramic tiled scenes depicting rural china. Just gorgeous. At the temple at the top (name unknown??) there were large carved (wooden??) warriers lining the inside of the temple. They were larger than life size and may even have been emporers, again not able to find out . Just amazing, I could have spent hours looking at them all. Alongside the temple the external buildings housed the teaching rooms, All in all, hugely worth visiting, I believe that we only saw an extremely small fraction of the park available, as I belive that it also has so much more to offer See more..

The studio is located just north of Foshan and is a very very huge place. It is known as one of CCTV's main film locations in China and offers very interesting live shows to public. Their main crowd are the local Chinese, because all the shows are conducted in mandarin. There are many permanent sets such as the palace, Jiangnan water village, 60s Hong Kong which are very nice to take pictures, it is definitely worth a half day visit at least. The ticket costs CNY90 per adult. We bought the tickets in Taobao with a slightly cheaper price. Just search for 佛山南海影视城门票，and you will see a whole list of agents selling the discounted tickets. Kind of relaxing if you can ignore the constant beeping of car horns all around and the persistant motorbike taxi drivers everywhere. The lake its self is picturesque but surrounded by commerce; hotels and other buildings. After travelling for 45 minutes from Foshan we expected something a bit more secluded. Worth a visit in Spring Festival when the peach blossoms are in full bloom. There is a temple which closes an hour before the park at 5pm; we were dissappointed that it was closing as we arrived after along trek up the hill preceeded by much asking of where it was exactly, as there didnt seem to be any signposts. One of my Favourite shopping malls in Foshan. Costa coffee , Moji, Walmart, H&M, Mango, Burger King. The supermarket is awesome and you can find anything you need from Chinese to western stuff. On the 2nd floor there is a nice fish restaurant where you can choose the fish , or other seafood that you would like to have. Plus there are snake dishes for people who like that kind of stuff. If you like western food there is another steakhouse next to it. I would not recommend it though. Being vegetarian I had plant based dished, which were disgusting. If you like sushi then on the 3rd floor there is a nice place, where you can watch the food preparation process. ALL IN ALL this is my weekend shopping destination.
