   Qifeng Park is located right down the street where we live at the Green Return Garden in DongCheng. This park is INCREDIBLE and I feel like I'm Indiana Jones every time my family and I enter this jungle of a park! At night bats swoop down from the trees to catch mosquitos. After it rains you can find ENORMOUS snails slithering about. You an feed bright orange and yellow koi fish at the huge pond. There is a HUGE temple straight out of some Kung Fu Movie. We even found a SECOND temple complex hidden on one of the side roads that has a HUGE reclining Buddha like in Bangkok!!!! The Red Lantern at the top of the hill is incredible. This park has it all.    A bit tricky to enjoy without your own transport.... there are bus services to the West Gate but, as there seem to be no nearby facilities, its a bit of a walk from there to the main park attraction areas. Otherwise try City Bus #1 to 光明路 where you can rent a bike and then cross the highway by underpass to get to the North Gate and the reservoir dam. Inside the park there is a bike hire shop near the East Gate car park and another one along the road nearby. Not a lot of food stalls, but a few hawkers selling 豆腐花, fish balls, chicken wings, etc. and a couple of honey stalls.     This place is usually called Ke Yuan Garden. The entrance and ticket office are small and hard to find. The taxi driver dropped me off around the corner from the entrance to the garden. In this area there are a number of art museums and craft workshops. Ke Yuan Garden features buildings from the Qing Dynasty (1850), and they have been beautifully restored. The garden is a short distance from the Wanda Plaza, a taxi ride from there should cost about 20RMB to 30RMB. If you are only in Dongguan for a short time, this is one place you should not miss.     It was a lot of fun to get to the top by small bus, walk after that a while , get some honey from the old lady right on the top of the mountain.     It was a beautiful day, and early in tyhe morning. I walked a short way into the park, and looked particularly at the lake. I can see that in a few weeks time, when the blossoms increase, the park will be spectacular.This park adjoins Qifeng Park, and it is a huge area to explore. Locals tell me it takes about four hours to walk around the perimeter of both parks. There would be plenty to see along the way. See more..

    Chang’an Park had an epic entrance gate in traditional Chinese style. It’s huge! Immediately upon entering the park from the little convenient store on the side you will see the steep stairs leading up to a huge Chinese pagoda on top of the hill. There are lots of steps but worth the climb. The view at the top is amazing. You can see a huge mountain with some other distant temple on the side. Anybody know that that is on the mountain that is visible from the pagoda at the top of Chang’an Park? Anyway I recommend visiting. It’s a quick hike up and a nice view. Very photogenic place!     This exhibition hall traces thousands of years of history of Dongguan. It was very interesting, albeit not very interactive. We came here in a group and were assigned an English-speaking guide. Our guide was really patient and her English was very good and easy to understand, so we were able to learn a lot. I did feel like our tour was a bit rushed at times. There were many signs in English and I wanted to read them but had to keep moving to keep up with the guide. The displays are so beautiful and artistic; they were my favorite part of the exhibition. Some of the children in our group weren’t as entertained here because a lot of the displays are not interactive and don’t hold children’s attention for very long, but it was still a good experience for them to learn some history.     This is seriously a nice place to spend a sunday etc. There are not much reviews done here and not many people know about it as its in Daojiao which is like a corner of Dongguan. Very easy to go from Dajojiao bus stn or Houjie. The park is quiet big with kinda different chinese cultural buildings and parks. There is even a kind of Go carting or horse ridding.     The views of Dongguan from the top of the mountain are spectacular. However, you need to check the weather forecast first. Choose a clear day, or the clouds will obscure the view. If you are there in the middle of summer, you go should go early in the morning. Otherwise the heat would be too much! A great place to explore, it would take a number of visits to see everything.     I crossed this bridge twice a day for 2-1/2yrs as I lived in Humen and worked in Nansha. To be quite honest there is nothing there at the bridge (linking Nansha to Humen) and no access to foot passengers. There is even less in both nansha and Humen towns. If memory serves me right the bridge is 3.5km long and it crosses the very busy Pearl river. That's about all.     We found Humen a interesting town. It's very much like most Chinese towns on the surface but we were impressed once we scratch a bit deeper and found the opium museum and the war museum. We spent a 1/2 day at the opium museum. If you are English speaking be sure to get the recorded information for when you look at the exhibitions.     This is a little out of the way to get to and parking is terrible. It costs 30 rmb to enter and at the time of writing you need clear covid testing on the app and a facemask. There are some places to eat and get drinks and snacks. It is interesting to see the way people lived a few hundred years ago. If you are interested in architecture and want to get some great photo opportunities it is worth visiting. There are also some guest houses so it is possible to stay overnight. I enjoyed it.     It's the 2nd stop on the train out of Shenzhen (1st is Pinghu). The ticket is 39.50 yuan as of December 2016. Do visit if you want to see a city that still has that village flavour. Worth a day trip. It's really boomed since when I was here 10 years ago. Walk out of the train station through a tunnel and you are in the smack center so don't get a ride from the ride hagglers tugging at you at the station exit. Lots of your typical big city brand name shops but also lots of little shops and eateries. If you are doing a day trip from Shenzhen (and you need only a day trip), do get the roundtrip as there are always long lines at the Zhangmutou (ZMT) train station, plus no one will speak English in ZMT to help you buy your ticket back. You can always hop on any train at another hour, the tickets are flexible as long as you travel on the date of your ticket. See more..
