   A bridge with scenic view. Recommend setting aside an hour for a slow stroll on the bridge. The start of the bridge (from Guangji gate of the heritage town) tends to be crowded. Don’t be discouraged by this sight. Get onto the bridge & walk all the way to the other end. As you do so, you will find the experience gets more tranquil for you to enjoy the surrounding view.    已略黄公祠可谓潮州木雕第一绝。到访的时候已是黄昏，游人很少。管理员大哥很帖子的打开衍庆堂的灯光，得以认真观赏木雕，虽然仍是昏暗且相机不给力，但仍感震撼。大门的砖雕也是亮点。

   We were visiting the nearby old town and visited this temple. The Kaiyuan Temple is one of the oldest Buddhist temple in Chaozhou. This temple was built in the Tang dynasty and has a history that is over 200 years. The diety Guan Yin "Goddest of Mercy", a white stone statue is at the temple's entrance. This is a huge temple with different halls. The temple was very well preserved and maintained. The walls of the temple have unique carvings and the ceilings were beautifully decorated with red lanterns. We left the temple after a quick tour of the temple, as it was crowded with local people and tourists praying and paying homage to the dieties and Buddhas. We also took the electric ricksaw tricylces that were stationed at the nearby arch to tour part of the old town's narrow streets lined with shops and old houses.     This approximately 800m bridge is famous and considered a national heritage within China. At 10.30am every day; the centre of the bridge is reconstructed using a large number of supporting boats underneath. It is a feat and toil of human engineering that this happens - so a great idea is to arrive say at about 10am and see them put the final 30 mins of finishing touches before the human wave throngs across. The bridge is taken apart in the late afternoon so that sizeable boats / ships can cut across. And this is no ordinary bridge - just take a look at the photos. There are rest stops every 20 metres or so, and a stop along any of these stops is met with a breezy carefree experience. Many years ago there used to be lots of vendors plying a living setting up stalls on either side of the bridge; but the government soon cleaned them up and now it's just a peaceful, beautiful work across.     I saw the pagoda (or tower) from Guangji Bridge and decided to walk for 20 minutes to reach the place. However, it was closed for renovation (I supposed) and could not go near it. It may not be easy to reach the tower as you have to walk a distance and walk across a dam to get to it. After you reach the tower, you will realise that they isn't any description about the tower.     We visited this place as part of a short group tour to Chaozhou. Since it was a quick visit, we only spent a couple of hours there but we were pleasantly surprised by the beautiful scenery and the quiet and relaxed environment. The place was not crowded like most of the other sites visited in China. It should be a good place for retreat and relaxation. There should be more about history and culture to be discovered inside the buildings but we didn't have time to explore. Wouldn't mind revisiting if we have a chance.     A private-owned mountain resort with the reputation of being the 2nd highest peak of southeast Guangzhou. This place is gaining fame with the rise of popularity and interest in their locally grown tea. Tea is huge business here especially for the appreciation of Teochew kungfu tea. I love the cool air and gorgeous scenery here. Endless mountain range filled with tea plantations. Didn’t manage to make it to 天池 which is purportedly to be amazing! Love the friendly tea house owners along the drive there, you can stop by any of these tea houses and the hospitable owners will be more than willing to brew their aromatic tea to let you try.     This used to be the lighthouse for boats seeking to trade the city. It is no longer in use and has become an attraction. As all historical buildings here, it is great in artistic value however this place has not been maintained well and grass has grown wildly and dust are coating the exhibits cover. Still it's worth to climb to the top and look down at the river below. Oh yes, for most attractions here including this one - show your passport to prove you are 60 and above for free entrance.
