  1. 5.0 Catedral de Marmol (817 reviews)
    - Amazing experience
Spent 1-2 hours Caverns & Caves
    Catedral de Marmol image
Please, take the long trip, it is about three hours of history, natural view, you can see condors and sheep. You will visit the Puerto Sanchez caverns, the old miner boat, and a hospital boat. The visit start from the Puerto Sanchez to the Catedral de Marmol. See more..
  2. 5.0 Capillas de Marmol (539 reviews)
    - Unique formations
    Geologic Formations
    Capillas de Marmol image
We visited these unique geological formations by boarding a tour boat from Puerto Sanchez, a small village accross from Puerto Rio Tranquilo. This allowed us to avoid the mass tourism (relatively speaking for the Carretera Austral that is) of Puerto Rio Tranquilo and also in addition to the caves and formations along the coast just south of Tranquilo to visit the caves of the large island in the archipelago to the east. You have have to make a detour from the CA over a dramatic pass to get to Sanchez but this road also offers spectacular views on the Lago General Carrera as well as some impressive overhanging rocks along this gravel road only built in year 2000. The caves offer fabulous shapes and amazing colors and definately worth visiting. See more..
  3. 5.0 Reserva Nacional Cerro Castillo (291 reviews)
    - Great mountain views
Spent More than 3 hours Nature & Wildlife Areas
    Reserva Nacional Cerro Castillo image
Unlike most of the other reviews, my visit was basically a drive in the area. We did get out a few times and that wind is fierce! Make sure you hold on to your hat! See more..
  4. 5.0 Glaciar Exploradores (213 reviews)
    - Full day tour when including the walk with crampons on the glacier.

  5. 5.0 99% Aventura (182 reviews)
    - Very good outfit for local tours
Climbing Tours • Hiking & Camping Tours • Nature & Wildlife Tours • Kayaking & Canoeing
    99% Aventura image
We did some research on tour operators for trips to the Capillas de Marmol (kayak), visit to the Exploradores Glacier (trekking) and Laguna San Rafael (drive/boat) and decided on 99% Aventura. While I was not that impressed with initial email arrangements for payment of the fee to hold our reservations, I am glad that we reserved ahead of time to guarantee space on all three tours. Once in Puerto Rio Tranquilo, 99% were flexible in scheduling our tours to take advantage of the weather conditions. We felt extremely fortunate that we were able to make the trip to Laguna San Rafael on the only day during our stay when the weather cooperated. On another day they moved the kayak trip up earlier to avoid heavy downpours. The guides were very friendly and knowledgeable. I do not hesitate to recommend 99% Aventura! See more..
  6. 5.0 Baker River (145 reviews)
    - An incomprehensable amount of turquoise water
    Bodies of Water
    Baker River image
This long ca. 200 km river which is the only outlet from the Lago General Carrera and spills its enormous quantity of turquoise glacial water into the fjords around Caleta Tortel can be seen from many places but one of the most dramatic places is shortly south of Bertrand at "Confluencias" where the turquoise Baker meets a small river of more brownish color from the nearby clacier. A 15 min hike will take you to the dramatic outlook of where the two rivers and colors meet. See more..
  7. 5.0 Aoni Rafting Patagonia (134 reviews)
    - Scenic and fun
River Rafting & Tubing • Sightseeing Tours
    Aoni Rafting Patagonia image
It was a great experience. Very nice people who run the company and professional. They took us through the calm part of the river first wich was a beautiful way to see and experience some of the mountains and birds of patagonia this also gave us a chance to warm up and practice for the rapids. The rapids were really fun, was a good adreniline rush. When we werd finished they supplied some much needed coffee, tea, sopaipillas and cake I highly recommend to familys and travelers looking for things to do in coyhaique. Professional company and felt safe through out the whole experience. See more..
  8. 5.0 Parque Nacional Laguna San Rafael (88 reviews)
    - Destino Patagonia tour - Well fed and beautiful!
Spent More than 3 hours National Parks
Parque Nacional Laguna San Rafael image
We really enjoyed getting to be this close to a glacier (at 1km away it felt in our face!). The knowledgeable, happy, and friendly guides were great. It was a long van ride from Tranquilo, with nice views along the way but for fog, then we got reshuffled at the pier, then the boatride was not short either but also good views despite fog. No bathroom on boat - use one before getting on and at the park with the short walk near the glacier. They fed us (and I am vegetarian) very well (starting on the boatride) - eating a hot meal while sitting on the top of the boat looking at the glacier calve was incredible. Wear full rain/wind gear and gloves and have a strap on your camera. Wear waterproof walking shoes/boots or take a change of good socks. See more..
  9. 5.0 Ecoturismo la Pancha (80 reviews)
    - 30' From port, fantastic tailor made outdoor experience. Kayak and horsebackride.
Saturday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Horseback Riding Tours • Kayaking & Canoeing
    Ecoturismo la Pancha image
Hospitable, knowledgeable, well-english-speaking guide Ricky showed us around in a super relaxed way. A 1,5 hrs kayak trip over the lake and beautifull river made us hungry for an elaborate snack and biscuit table. The horseback ride (also some 1,5 hrs) made us fall in love with the surrounding nature. Pro's are flexibility, easygoing, respect for nature, value for money and hospitality. Con's are nonexistent. We were on a cruise. Distance from port is 30 minutes with no risk of transport delays. See more..
  10. 5.0 Buen Viaje (78 reviews)
    - Excelente Guia Turístico
Saturday: 9:00 AM - 9:00 PM Sightseeing Tours
    Buen Viaje image
See more..
  11. 5.0 Futaleufu River (59 reviews)
    - Exhilarating time on the river!
    Bodies of Water
    Futaleufu River image
Spent an incredible week with Earth River in Chile, rafting and kayaking the Futaleufu and hiking to lakes. The river is amazing and has 13+ back to back challenging rapids, far more fun and beautiful than a prior rafting trip I went on the American River. Earth River guides are true experts of the Futa and do a phenomenal job balancing a thrilling experience with the highest of safety standards. The guides are very knowledgeable and engaging and helped enhance the experience on the river. Highly recommend trusting Earth River with your Futaleufu river experience! See more..
  12. 5.0 Queulat National Park (50 reviews)
    - Don't miss the "Emchanted Forest"
    National Parks
    Queulat National Park image
54 Km south of Puyuhuapi on right hand side (when driving south) you will see a small sign "Bosque Encantado". If you get to a junction (paved roads) you missed it by 4.6 Km, it is worthwhile to trun back. The hike in the enchanted forest is a relatively short hike, 2 hours each way and it combines walking in a tropical rain forest, crossing a river, clinbing to see the hanging glacier from the the south, some cascades..... Be preparted with warm cloth because towards the end of the trail there is a climb and it can become windy. We hiked the Torres, the Fitz Roy and others -- this short hike is the one that combined the largest variety of sceenery. Recommended!! See more..

  15. 5.0 Lago Jeinimeni National Reserve (31 reviews)
    - Superb scenery
    Nature & Wildlife Areas
    Lago Jeinimeni National Reserve image
We camped 3 nights here at the entrance and loved the place. Day hikes to the Silencio trail, Mirador trail and Lago Esmeralda were spectacular and not difficult. The wildflowers blanketed the meadows. Helpful CONAF ranger support staff. Be aware, it can get very cold at night. Also, we couldn't make it to the Raleigh campground due to the high water crossing at Rio Jeinimeni. See more..

  17. 4.5 Parque Nacional Queulat (353 reviews)
    - Wonderful hike to glacier viewpoint
National Parks • Nature & Wildlife Areas
    Parque Nacional Queulat image
The road to into the park is horrible and the park is crowded but the trek up to the glacial viewpoint is magical. Make sure you also do the short side trail along the rushing river to the lake. If you want solitude, there is another viewpoint trail whose trailhead is just before the two upper parking lots. I think the trail is marked as something like Rio Ventisquero. The trail is very steep and muddy, however. See more..
  18. 4.5 Laguna San Rafael (294 reviews)
    - OMG
    Bodies of Water
    Laguna San Rafael image
The glacier, the floes, the wildlife; Laguna San Raphael will fill your camera's memory card. Calving glacier; that unreal blue color of icebergs; cormorants everywhere, this boat trip is the place to be in Chacabuco. Just a short boat ride from the port. See more..
  19. 4.5 Coyhaique National Reserve (222 reviews)
    - Excellent place for light and moderate trekking
    Nature & Wildlife Areas
    Coyhaique National Reserve image
The Reserve is very close to Coyhaique and Puerto Aysen and has good infrastructure for hiking, camping and trekking. Trails go from easy to moderate and difficult and are all very clearly signalled all the way through. Try the trail to the very top of Cerro Cinchao. Take plenty of water, food and a camera. Stunning views! See more..
  20. 4.5 Parque Aiken del Sur (123 reviews)
    - Incredible Experience!
    Parks
    Parque Aiken del Sur image
We visited here on an excursion from the Norwegian Star. The bus for the tour was parked just outside the port terminal and then we met our guide, Matias Weber. Turns out that Matias has a passion for the environment and this park, thus making him an excellent tour guide! We rode the bus into the park and then walked through the forest to a waterfall. Straight off the bat we saw a pair of condors!!!! Check that off the bucket list! Through the walk Matias would stop and explain what we were seeing. He knew everything! Along the way we could hear lots of birds, but unfortunately we couldn't spot any other than the condors. After reaching the waterfalls we walked to Quincho where we were treated to local drinks and local snacks. But the best part were the two couples who danced traditional dances for us. Wonderful! This was a wonderful visit, made even better by our guide Matias! See more..
  21. 4.5 enPatagonia Tours (89 reviews)
    - Great tour and lunch esp for cruise passengers
Cultural Tours • Eco Tours • Sightseeing Tours • Day Trips
    enPatagonia Tours image
We were on cruise ship and found this tour which was a great one. We visited countryside including waterfalls followed but a wonderful lunch at a family farm with local dancing demonstrated-and wine. Timing works perfect and the smaller bus was able to stop at places that the bigger cruise tour buses had to skip. Guide was good and gave us lots of local information. Easy to meet the tour but do give yourself plenty of time to get there-ie pick up your tender ticket early. We were late getting off but they left someone to wait for us who got us to the group. You do have to walk up a hill to meet them so consider that as well. On our ship the tender was very busy so even though we went to get tickets about 8:20 was 9:15 before we could board which made our arrival after 9:30 meeting time. They do make restroom stops. 22. 4.5 Rio Simpson Nacional Reserve (74 reviews)
    - Nice Relaxing and Beautiful Tour Stop
    Spent 2-3 hours National Parks
    Rio Simpson Nacional Reserve image
While this reserve is not as spectacular as some places that we visited, it is beautiful and peaceful. There is also a nice building with information and exhibits, as well as some trails. Our guide on this tour told us about a bird called the chucao tapaculo. It has a beautiful voice but we were told that we would never see one. Luckily enough, one landed just a couple of feet away and I got a wonderful photo. See more..

    Sightseeing Tours
    Valle Glaciares image
Great way to visit Laguna San Rafel's fjords, sea fauna, channels, islands, and snow-caps. Amazing Experience! We were four people, including my mother who is 74 years old. Mr. Castillo and his team made our trip to a lifetime experience. We were stopping along the road where they explained to us about the flora and fauna. Onboard, they served Chilean meals, and the boat "Catamaran" was made especially for this purpose. We felt safe all the way. This trip offered the local flavours, local landscape and the Chilean Warm. Highly recommended. See more..
  29. 4.5 Isla de los Muertos (52 reviews)
    - If in Tortel take this boat trip
Spent < 1 hour Historic Sites • Points of Interest & Landmarks
    Isla de los Muertos image
The recent history of the pioneers and population of the Carretera Austral areas in the 20th century is fascinating in general and the incident in the winter of 1906 on this island in the Baker estuary where many people mysteriously died within a very short period of 2 months, has been commemorated well by the graveyard on Isla de los Muertos. You can visit by boarding a boat in Caleta Tortel, but make sure you get a good guide who can both tell you about the history an nature of the area. Also a beautiful boat ride amongst the dramatic fjords of the Baker delta. See more..
  30. 4.5 Turismo Valle Leones (52 reviews)
    - Exploradores Glacier

    Turismo Valle Leones image
We did Exploradores Glacier with Catalina and Alvaro. Such an amazing Experience. We arrived at Puerto Rio Tranquilo on Christmas so nothing open. We drove around town and saw this place open and went in and booked the Exploradores Glacier with them. It turned out that the company that we are doing it with is Turismo Valle Leones and I’m so glad I stumbled into that shop. Catalina is very knowledgeable and speaks really good English, also she is so passionate about her job. Her and Alvaro look after everyone and took a really good care of us. The tour started at 7am and ended at about 4pm. It is a full day tour and they also provided us snacks for lunch. Catalina and Alvaro also let us practice how to walk on ice with crampons. They make sure everyone is safe. I would totally recommend Turismo Valle Leones to anyone who wants to do Exploradores Glacier. See more..
