The NATIVO EXPEDICIÓNES crew took care of us! If you’re looking for an experience boating in fjords, seeing fauna and glaciers, and enjoying Tierra fell Fuego’s natural beauty, this is the company for you! The crew really knows the area and treats you well. It’s a more remote spot than other places in Chile that is just as beautiful - so the experience feels more intimate with less tourists. 100% recommended! See more..

    - Excellent experience!

    Parque Pinguino Rey image
Pingüino Rey Natural Reserve promotes conservation and protection of both the king penguin as the wealth of vegetation, other wildlife, and archaeological sites in Bahía Inútil, accepting a conservation project based on three pillars: Research, Education and Sustainable Tourism; concepts that construct guidelines to preserve the natural and cultural heritage of Tierra del Fuego. We're looking forward to generate awareness among visitors and the community, about taking care of the environment and historical remains found therein, through education. This provides tools for observing wildlife with low disturbance impact. “Visiting and protecting go hand in hand; together we can take care of this wonderful place” See more..
  9. 4.0 Museo Municipal "Fernando Cordero Rusque" (56 reviews)
    - Informative museum with great pictures

Museo Municipal "Fernando Cordero Rusque" image
This is a small museum detailing a few artefacts of the Selk'nam tribe as well as excellent black and white pictures of this tribe before being exterminated. They were certainly the tribe with the visually most impressive culture. The museum also details the history of Provenir, the small and only town on the Chilean side of the island. Information is given over the Croatian immigrants, the largest group, as well as the many people from Chiloe island that came here to work in the sheep processing industry. We visited the museum as part of a day long tour of the island, and had a guide detailing the artefacts. See more..

Francisco was a wonderful guide on Tierra del,Fuego! Visited museums, estancias, flamingo/swan refuge and penguin colonies. You can get a "Mercedes tour" out of Punta Arenas, but don't waste your money. Francisco knows the area south of Porvenir and is the best! And...he makes great empladas! See more..

  12. 4.0 Draga Aurífera (5 reviews)
    - Abandoned machinery from the beginnings of the 20th Century
Spent < 1 hour Historic Sites • Points of Interest & Landmarks • Monuments & Statues
    Draga Aurífera image
The Draga Aurifera, a huge steam driven conveyer belt machine, is an official national monument, dating back to the gold rush in Tierra del Fuego around 1905. It is covered with rust but very well conserved. There is also a story to it: a longtime resident of Tierra del Fuego told us that at the beginnings of the 20th Century a guy dropped some tiny bits of gold at that spot to attract investors who subsequently invested in bringing the machinery over from England (must have taken them forever in those days). According to what locals know, the machine was never used as there was no gold there. A scam. See more..
