  1. 5.0 Gosauseen (296 reviews)
    - Breathtaking views from every angle
    Bodies of Water
    Gosauseen image
We spent a couple of hours at what I think is one of the most beautiful lakes in Austria. There is a hike around the lake, but we went a little farther up to a second lake - there is a small waterfall on the way - and then back down. When we arrived back at the starting place we rented a boat (25 euro for one hour), took it out to the lake, and went swimming. The water was cold, but it was refreshing after a hike on a hot day. Everywhere you look is stunning. See more..
  2. 5.0 Traunsee (245 reviews)
    - Majestic lake as a gift of nature
    Bodies of Water
    Traunsee image
Traunsee is situated very close to the town " Gmunden" at upper Austria. In German language it is expressed just the reverse way ie " Gmunden am Traunsee". Traunsee is surrounded by high mountains. Both Gmunden town and lake Traun " Traunsee" are very popular destinations of Austria as health & summer resorts. Traunsee has large surface area of 24 Sq. Kms. and its max. depth is 191 Mtr.Tranquil enormous water surrounded by high mountains is really like Nature's Gift to Austria. It is really paradise for those who love the nature and tranquility, away from the noise of big towns. Other nearby attractions are ; Schlos Ort , Historishe Gmundner Strssenbahn , Gmundner Keramik & Historishe Traumseebahn. In my opinion these lively destinations are " Must See " while driving from Vienna to Salzburg in Austria. Few pictures from my collection , beeing offered to readers. See more..

  4. 5.0 EU Shuttlebus Group (154 reviews)
    - Complete satisfaction
    Spent 1-2 hours Bus Services
    EU Shuttlebus Group image
We travelled from Hallstatt to Český Krumlov with EU Shuttlebus and had the most pleasant experience. To begin with, Daniel sent multiple reminders prior to the trip, providing detailed information as to where to meet and some tips as well, otherwise we wouldn’t have requested for shuttle service from our hotel to the carpark, our meeting point in Hallstatt. During the trip, Daniel prepared bottled water and maps for us, and was more than happy to share with us his knowledge of Czech culture and tradition. The vehicle itself was totally comfortable. After crossing the border, Daniel was kind enough to stop at a service station for us to take a rest and suggested that we should exchange money there, which proved to be an excellent choice as the exchange rate was arguably the best available. To sum up, we are completely satisfied with Daniel’s services and would recommend EU Shuttlebus to anyone travelling to/from cities around Český Krumlov. See more..
  5. 5.0 Lake Hallstatt Explorer (128 reviews)
    - Serene Way to Enjoy Hallstatt
    Boat Rentals
    Lake Hallstatt Explorer image
We rented an electric boat on the lake for an hour. I could have stayed out there all afternoon. This was heavenly. You've got to do it. It's very quiet and serene on the water, and we had a lovely breeze while were out on the water. The boats are easy to drive. You don't need any boat experience. They only have one speed and no reverse. They have a sunshade which you can put up if you want to get some shade. Plus, it's amazingly cheap! It's a beautiful way to see Hallstatt and also get away from the horde of tourists. It's very romantic out on the water by yourselves. See more..
  6. 5.0 Moonscape (107 reviews)
    - Best Escape Room so far
Thursday: 1:45 PM - 8:45 PM Spent 2-3 hours Escape Games
    Moonscape image
Amissa Anima Mea was the first and only Escape Room I did at Moonscape, however I did 5 Rooms at other Companies. That being said this one was the one I enjoyed the most. The atmosphere was great and you could see there was a big effort put into decoration. Also a lot of puzzles which were little bit tricky but not too hard so you wouldn't be stuck for 10 minutes with the same. will definitely come again : ) See more..

    Almsee image
This is one of tje places we take a lot of friends that are visiting us and it never disappoints. Doesn't matter which season, it's always beautiful to walk around and enjoy the great views. I would recommend to come during the forenoon though since it gets more and more crowded throughout the day. See more..

    - Postcard picture perfect town
Spent More than 3 hours Historic Walking Areas • Scenic Walking Areas
    Old Town image
Hallstatt is one of the most beautiful towns I have ever seen. Its a beautiful lakeside town with a dramatic mountain backdrop. Its existence is the result of a rich salt deposit in the mountain of Hallstatt. The salt mine is still in existence and one can visit. There are various ways of reaching Hallstatt including by train then ferry or by several buses. As there was maintenance on the train tracks when we visited we used buses only. The very scenic 150 from Salzburg then the rail replacement bus. The town is preserved and has so many pretty and historic buildings, restaurants, bars, and shops. This place should be on everybodys bucketlist. See more..

    - Through Remembrance May It Never Happen Again
Thursday: 9:00 AM - 3:45 PM Spent More than 3 hours Historic Sites • History Museums
    KZ-Gedenkstätte Mauthausen image
We entered the camp from around the back near the quarry, where there are a large number of memorials to the various victims of the camp. These memorials were very moving and of historical interest themselves, as they were erected at various times since the end of the war. Within the camp itself, there are marked stations where one can use the provided number to listen to the audio commentary about the place in one's own language. In the main building, there are many, many exhibits which provide printed text in both English and German. These exhibits are very informative and paint a very detailed picture of the history of the camp and the Nazi era. May we never forget what happened here and may we never let it happen again. Pöstlingbergbahn image
We rode uphill from the Hauptplatz, a roundtrip on bahn 50. We bought our tickets from the machine at the Hauptplatz. We rode up late morning. It was not super busy. It was a fun, and scenic trip. At the station at the top, we got off and walked around the area. So pretty. I am not sure when we made the trip back down, but we got to see a bunch of school kids get on the bahn, then get off at stops along the way. It was cute. We had a very nice time riding the bahn, and would certainly do it again. See more..
  16. 4.5 Hallstatt-Dachstein - Salzkammergut Cultural Landscape (620 reviews)
    - Beautiful but difficult to reach!
    Mountains
Hallstatt-Dachstein - Salzkammergut Cultural Landscape image
Hallstatt was always on my wish list to visit when I was travelling to Austria. Being one of the UNESCO world heritage most picturesque villages I was dying to see and experience this place I had been seeing on instagrams and other social medias online. the beautiful small, quaint town is surrounded by the serene lake where you can catch sight of elegant swans swimming around. the entire village is surrounded by hills. the better way to reach Hallstatt is from salzburg city. from salzburg city take a bus and train ride. the train stops at Hallstatt station from here only ferries can take you to the village. The village just looks like out of a postcard or fairytale. since it was December everything was surrounded by snow which gave it an altogether different charm. One word "Don't miss this place" See more..

  18. 4.5 5 Fingers (575 reviews)
    - Amazing views, but be prepared for crowds.
Points of Interest & Landmarks • Lookouts
    5 Fingers image
Absolutely stunning views on the lake and the surrounding mountain peaks. The 'panoramic' hike from the cable car (mountain) station to the 5 fingers is perfectly doable for most people and offers exciting and varied views as well. In the end of July 2022 the 5 fingers was packed with tourists who took turns to be able to take a picture. Yes, it was that busy. But worth it for sure. See more..
  19. 4.5 Hallstätter See (468 reviews)
    - Hallstatt: A village taken from a fairy tale
Spent 2-3 hours Bodies of Water
    Hallstätter See image
Hallstatt is a very picturesque village on the lake Hallstatt, southeast of Salzburg. The streets of the village are ideal for walking and you will definitely find beautiful corners. You can enjoy a boat ride on the lake as well. Cars are not allowed in the village but there are spacious parkings at a distance of 100-200 meters from the entrance of the village. Around the village and the lake the visitor can walk on beautiful paths. Near the parking area there is a cable car, which takes you over the village. Near the end of the cable car is the Skywalk, an artificial platform with amazing views of the lake and the village. Ideal spot for photography. In the area there is also the very interesting Christina salt mine, which can be visited with a guide. The visitor of the mine follows a specific route on foot and by train and will get to know the historical evolution of the salt mining process from the Bronze Age until today. Very interesting. - Very Impressive
Thursday: 7:30 AM - 7:00 PM Points of Interest & Landmarks • Religious Sites • Churches & Cathedrals
    Mariendom image
This was one of the most impressive sites during our vacation. The cathedral is impressive enough from the outside but the interior just swallows you with very impressive decor and beautiful stained glass windows. It is a wonderful place to go in and recoup and just absorb the magnificence. The steeple dominates the area as it should. See more..
  21. 4.5 Basilika St. Michael (413 reviews)
    - Worth the detour
    Thursday: 9:00 AM - 7:00 PM Spent < 1 hour Religious Sites • Churches & Cathedrals
    Basilika St. Michael image
We stopped here on our way to Salzburg and whilst not huge fans of the Sound of Music, this church is instantly recognizable. Free to enter and no pressure to make a donation, but it would be wrong not to, we happily handed some coins over and were offered a tiny bottle of holy water. Not sure what to do with it, but I carried it across Europe feeling like it must be keeping me safe. We were lucky enough to hear a retired opera singer rehearsing Ave Maria inside and the experience was something I will never forget. Amazing acoustics and one for the bucket list. See more..

We really enjoyed this boat trip. The Wolfgangsee is so magnificent. In 45 minutes it takes you from the centre of St. Wolfgang to St. Gilgen. You then get many beautiful sights over the lake. We paid 28,40 Euro. Two adults and two children (4 and 6). This was also for the return trip. See more..
  24. 4.5 Hallstäettersee-Schifffahrt (206 reviews)
    - Top scenic landscape in the World
    Sightseeing Tours
    Hallstäettersee-Schifffahrt image
This place has my vote for the top ten most picturesque landscapes in the World. We drove here for a day visit on our trip through Eastern Europe. Needless to say, it was worth it. A MUST DO: rent an electric boat from the shoreline of Hallstatt and cruise the glass crystal clear Lake for the best views of the town and mountain side. 14 Euro for an hour and a monkey can navigate the boat it is so simple: one speed control knob; 0,1,2. 2 is still very slow. No big engines allowed on the pristine Lake. Run your hands through the cool pure water and enjoy the mountain pure water (its becoming more and more scarce worldwide). Nature at its best. See more..

    Castles
    Seeschloss Ort image
Not for being big and not for being nice to visit inside. The location on a small island makes it special. Amazing how they used every inch of this small island when they built it, this is why the castle has an irregular shape, but you won't notice unless you see my aerial pictures, attached. write me if you want to see the whole video. You can walk around the entire castle in 10 minutes, Enjoy it! See more..
