    Superlative Folk Art
The Schlossmuseum’s collections are well worth visiting. I especially enjoyed the extensive collections of folk art from Upper Austria, they are first rate. Recreated rooms, furniture, focused collections of religious art and household items, and a multitude of decorative arts items evoked the style of this area. A good set of displays examined the home industry that produced many of the decorative items and everyday housewares that were made prior to factories and assembly lines. The crèches, krippe, are only on display during the Christmas holidays, but there are plenty of other items to hold your interest. Fine art of the area are also on display to include a really good Schiele landscape. A current exhibition on Austria between the World Wars is worth seeing even if you are not a German speaker. I thought it did a good job of tackling many uncomfortable and unsettled issues associated with the Anschluss. Entry was free on Sunday afternoon. Not sure why this was so, but I appreciated this. Before you leave, take in all of the views from the promontory occupied by this museum.
