    Izu Shaboten Zoo image
The reason why we are in Izu even! It's to see the capybaras upfront & pet them! Which we did!! The family of 4 in the large enclosure are perfectly used to being manhandled by humans. There was a capybara onsen somewhere else but there was only 1 guy sitting in there & you couldn't get near him. There were a a few interesting primate species on islands in a small "river" & you can get in a boat to see them. Also llamas, tapirs, peacocks & parrots but the stars are the capys definitely. We got our tickets from Izu Kogen train station's information counter as it was 400 yen cheaper. Recommended for capy fans or those who have no idea what a capy is ... See more..

    Fugan Unga Kansui Park image
As some of you searching through attractions on TripAdvisor, Toyama does not have many classic tourist attractions within walking distance of the train station. The most interesting place you can get to on foot is definitely Fugan Unga Kansui Park. In fact, it was the highlight of our day in Toyama. It was fun to sit back in the sun and watch life go by. There were lots of families, babies and pets everywhere. In other cities / places, it may seem noisy. Yet, it just sort of works here. We spent our time people watching and having coffee, and before we knew it, we had been there 2.5 hours! See more..
  6. 4.0 Oishi Park (429 reviews)
    - Great view of Mt Fuji
    Friday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Parks
    Oishi Park image
Kawaguchiko Natural Living Center is a small building that allows you to buy food and souvenirs. Right next to Natural Living Center is the Oishi Park. Even though the flowers were not in bloom when I visited on 15 May 2018, the panoramic view of Mt Fuji and Lake Kawaguchiko with tall wild grass was beautiful. I imagine it will look even better when flowers like lavender are in full bloom. I spent around 1 hour here. From Kawaguchiko Station Platform 1, you can take the Kawaguchiko Sightseeing Bus Red-Line to the last stop, stop 22, for Kawaguchiko Natural Living Center and Oishi Park. The bus ride costs 480 yen and takes around 30 minutes. The bus frequency is around every 15 minutes. Natural Living Center and Oishi Park have no entrance fee. See more..
