Cool and casual
Very charming neighborhood with plenty of small shops, bars, restaurants and interesting museums. Definately a part of Barcelona that should not be missed. Take an afternoon and just wander around and sit down for a coffee or drink. We were in town during off season so perhaps thst is why, but the area felt more local than touristy.

Worth the wander
Head for the El Born area in La Ribera: not over spoiled by mass tourism and you'll find a lot to enjoy: Basilica de Santa Maria del Mar, the Picasso Museum and El Born Museum. The plaza linking the Basilica and El Born Museum is pleasant and bounded with lots of choice for food and drink. Good to sit and eat and watch life.
