After my friend and I stayed in Lloret de Mar, we realized that the parties and fun weary of it. I studied the map of the neighborhood, and decided to take a day trip to Tossa de Mar, which I reached in just twenty minutes. I was struck by the silence and beauty of this place. It is even surprising how these two cities are opposite. There was a desire to relocate, but half of our vacation has already passed, therefore, we decided to just come and walk along the ruins of an ancient castle, which is located on the main beach. Moreover, on its top we looked at a cafe so cozy with a beautiful and relaxing view that we wanted to return. See more..

    Turo Seu Vella image
Driving in to Lleida u cannot miss it. Standing high and proud on top of the highest hill of the city is the Turo Seu Vella. The complex itself is also wonderful. The cloister is still in a very good shape. The old catedral still has beautiful 13th century frescoes and there are the very pretty old gates on the site. If you are not really into history the way up is still very rewarding as you will have fantastic views over the whole town. See more..
  3. 4.5 Castell de Sant Ferran (796 reviews)
    - Not quite an impregnable bastion

    Castell de Sant Ferran image
A pleasant walk led to a most impressive bastion. Extending across a large area, its construction began in 1753 as a defensive fortress on the border with France. An enormous moat through which a jeep was driving exemplifies the scale of the edifice. Arriving to the vast Parade Ground it was great walking through the accessible parts. Marvellous stone craft is paramount throughout. An area is set aside for art exhibitions. Photographs of the castle plus paintings by local artists were those featured, in a fine vaulted space. Despite its sturdiness, it wasn’t impregnable to the French. In 1808 early in the Peninsular War it fell to that enemy. In the early 1940s it had another darker function, serving as a prison for Republican prisoners. It ceased its role as a prison in 1997 and its new life as a exemplary museum began. See more..
