    - Peaceful
Monday: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Cemeteries
    Hang Duong Cemetary image
A must visit in Con Dao! A peaceful cemetary. Most vietnamese come to Con Dao just for the purpose to pay their respect to the thousands whom had been executed in Con Dao prison. Especially the grave of Vo Thi Sau, a National Revolutionary Martyr who is venerated by the Vietnamese as an ancestral spirit, and has amassed almost a cult-like following of devotees. If you visit at night around 9pm-12pm, u will see busloads of devotees. Remember to be respectful and wear appropriate attire. See more..

  7. 5.0 Bai Nhat Beach (12 reviews)
    - The best beach in Con Dao
    Beaches
    Bai Nhat Beach image
This is a gorgeous little beach. The sand is white, the water is crystal clear and turquoise. It’s located on the way to Ben Dam. There is a little track down to it off the main road. We parked our scooter by the side of the road. Lonely Planet says the beach is only exposed at low tide but there is now soft sand above the tide line. We had one of the best swims ever! The scenery is spectacular. See more..
  8. 5.0 Con Dao Trip (8 reviews)
    - Baby turtles and tour to the island
    Monday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Historical & Heritage Tours • Sightseeing Tours • Kayaking & Canoeing
    Con Dao Trip image
Amazing experience with boat to the island in front of Con Dao. We saw baby turtles heading to the sea and we did some great snorkeling in incredibly clean water. The guide conducted a great tour and he organized for us a barbecue in the garden of our hotel, with the fish we took in the local market. He also prepared an amazing salad, some Vietnamese sauces and dishes. We could not desire more. He was very friendly and we will remember this experience for long time. Thanks again!! See more..

    Monuments & Statues
    Christ The King Statue image
We enjoyed going to this attraction as part of a day trip to Vung Tau Beach. There are 1000 steps to the top of the statue and it is well worth making the effort to reach the top. There are great views from up there and the artwork and other statues around the site are very well done. See more..
  11. 4.5 Dam Trau Beach (166 reviews)
    - Best beach on the island
    Beaches
    Dam Trau Beach image
We scoped out a few beaches on the island, but this was our favourite! The beach is spotless, no rubbish when we were there, unlike some other beaches. There are a couple of restaurants, we got some drinks and seafood noodles, the portion was big enough for 2 people to share for lunch. The only quirk here is it’s next to the airport so you see the planes coming in. We liked it and the planes really weren’t that load at all. See more..
  12. 4.5 Con Dao Dive Center (122 reviews)

    Scuba & Snorkelling

  14. 4.5 Con Dao Musuem (85 reviews)
    - A Really Important First-Stop
    Monday: 8:00 AM - 10:30 AM, 2:00 PM - 4:30 PM Military Museums • History Museums
    Con Dao Musuem image
Not only do you have to go to the museum first in order to purchase tickets for all of the prisons (as a package), this is a good place to get some basic understanding of the context of the prisons. It should come as no surprise to anyone the history is written from the context of the current government (so the South Vietnamese are referred to as the American "puppets") but that doesn't detract at all from the message the museum seeks to communicate. I highly recommend spending a bit of time here first. The signage is in English and Vietnamese. See more..
  15. 4.5 Rainbow Divers (70 reviews)
    - Diving is done in Con Dao. This location now permanently closed.
    Monday: 8:00 AM - 8:00 PM Scuba & Snorkelling
    Rainbow Divers image
Sadly, we never had a chance to experience Rainbow, as they have permanently closed up shop. Due to deteriorating conditions, successful diving on the island is no longer possible due to high winds and poor visibility. Unfortunately, Con Dao sits at the end of the tidal stream from the Mekong Delta, and during the rainy season (May to October) it is awash with runoff and pollution that makes for very poor visibility. During the windy season (September to April?), the coast guard closes the port for safety reasons, often for weeks at a time. The reputable dive shops have all closed for obvious business reasons, and I would be wary of the one that remains, that doesn't take safety seriously. See more..
  16. 4.5 Con Dao Prison (64 reviews)
    - The Main "Prison Attraction" Really a Horrorscape
Monday: 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM Historic Sites
    Con Dao Prison image
The largest and most visually striking of the Con Dao prisons Phu Hai contains the original tiger cages that, if you visit Hoa Lo prison in Hanoi (Hanoi "Hilton,") you'll see replicated. We did not take a guided tour but the minimal signage plus the physical structure of the prison itself was sufficient to tell the story . I'm not sure that this place is actually being left to rot like some reviewers say. This is a valuable, historical relic and a site for pilgrimage. If you're only going to visit one prison, this is probably the one you want to see. See more..
  17. 4.5 The Bluffs Grand Ho Tram Strip (55 reviews)
    - Great nice course but 3 hrs drive
Monday: 6:30 AM - 9:00 PM Golf Courses
The Bluffs Grand Ho Tram Strip image
Designed by the legendary Greg Norman, The Bluffs Grand Ho Tram Strip is an international class links layout built on a coastal strip gifted to golf by Mother Nature. Greg Norman put it best when he said that The Bluffs is “one of the most special golf experiences in the world”. See more..
  18. 4.5 Upside Down House (35 reviews)
    - Upside - Down, so you're turning me , inside out and all around.
    Monday: 6:00 AM - 10:00 PM Spent < 1 hour Art Museums
    Upside Down House image
Since long ago, people always try to solve problem by the same way: beginning-ending. That procedure only brings little improvement. So we take a step backward, turn it upside down to approach them, freshly. Thus Upside Down House wants to share with you the different angle of daily items to you. Besides the imaginetastic experience, you will be able to browse our gift shop and enjoy local drinks. See more..
  19. 4.5 The Battle of Long Tan (25 reviews)
    - This historical site is worth a visit to remember the sacrifice for those who died in the Vietnam War
Monday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Spent 1-2 hours Battlefields
The Battle of Long Tan image
This memorial is erected to remember the Australian killed in the battle of Long Tan. The site is close to the location where the battle took place. Not far from here is the site of the Allied Airstrip and the location of the Australian Allied base. Note that the airfield and base are just locations, no memorial or signage advising their significance. Long Tan has the memorial cross erected to honour the fallen Australian soldiers. You would probably be best to visit the site with a tour. See more..
  20. 4.5 Van Son Pagoda (20 reviews)
    - Nice view from the top and near to town
Spent More than 3 hours Religious Sites
    Van Son Pagoda image
A small temple which is near to town and you can get the electric trams to fetch you there. It's a short but steep climb to the top where the temple is. Not too difficult for most people. A nice view of the town and beach from up there. I came down and my tram guy had already left, so I walked back into town which is a short hike. See more..

  23. 4.0 Vung Tau Lighthouse (243 reviews)
    - Nice Views
    Lighthouses
    Vung Tau Lighthouse image
Vung Tau Lighthouse is unsurprisingly on the top of Small Mountain. It can be found by following the Hai Dang Street from Ha Long. Its a long windy path taking some delightful views, passing coffee shops, yogurt shops and young romantic couples posing for their selfies. The lighthouse also has a newly opened museum which is fascinating. If you like some exercise, it's definitely worth doing a walk up, otherwise jump on your bike to a spectacular view all across Vung Tau City, See more..

    - Lovely beach
    Beaches
    Back Beach image
Nice quiet beach daytime, but mobbed by locals once the sun gors down. Very shallow for hundreds of metres so huge beach at low tide. Very clean sand, but watch your exposure time if sun bathing, as the sin is very strong, so maximum 30 minutes is advised!! See more..
  29. 4.0 Lam Son Stadium (90 reviews)
    - Sport of kings
    Dog Tracks
    Lam Son Stadium image
Excellent fun. Betting is easy and much the same as in Australian races, although there is no each-way betting as far as I can tell. Won myself a cool 290,000 on a single race. The 'VIP' entry fee entitles you to access a nice section upstairs with a great view overlooking the winning post. See more..
  30. 4.0 Con Dao National Park (83 reviews)
    - Wonderful
    National Parks
    Con Dao National Park image
The National Park is worth a visit while you stay in Con Dao. With entrance ticket 60.000 vnd, you need at least 3 hours to do trekking there. The trails are easy to follow; the trees, the birds, the monkeys.. Very enjoyable. There are 3 beaches at the end when you go thru the park, so up to your time, you can choose Ong Dung beach, Bang beach or Dat Tham beach. I went to Bang beach, kind of remote and so quiet beach, great for photo shots. See more..
