You will go to the sights you want to see and she explains so much about history, culture, current ways of life of the local people. I met so many local people with San and tried new foods I hadn't yet discovered in the rest of my trip. San is incredibly thoughtful and kind and she completely understands the needs and wishes of her clientele. San can do tours across the Mekong Delta tailored to your specific interests, everything is bespoke.    Yen is unique compared to the others. I sought experiences that were not the same tours and well trodden paths that all the other operators offer. She listened to my thoughts and interpreted them to such a depth of understanding despite me not fully knowing what I wanted or being able to fully explain it. . Especially , the fact that she is a mother too and truly understands the requirements of not just the children but us , the parents too. Fluent English, fully licensed and accredited and at reasonable affordable rates. We did day tours , food tours ( to where the Real Vietnamese of Saigon go ) helped with hotel bookings and transportation.    The boat only has seven seats - I was with just three other people. There was certainly a private feel to it from the moment of boarding the boat. There were two drivers and an attendant who looked after the border crossing process and provided refreshment. I had not expected such customer care! It was a very pleasant journey with some interesting sights. Travelling on the river is smooth and there’s plenty of wind to feel as if you were outside. They asked us to allow an hour for custom on both ends but in fact it was swift, just a few minutes at the two borders. See more..

   We went out to see floating market today in Long Xuyên. Fantastic time with our tour guide. Thai and his friends sorted out everything. Great morning on river visiting floating Market and then to 60 year old coffee shop. Best coffee in the world, in my opinion. We look forward to meeting up again next year.    We did an 8 day cruise with AmaWaterways, Ho Chi Minh City to Phnom Penh and Siem Reap and added the land excursion one other end, HCMC, Hanoi, Halong Bay. It was their first time back on the Mekong after COVID and they were still working out some kinks, but the staff was amazing and went above and beyond to take good care of us. The food was a little disappointing but that may have been due to supply-chain issues along with strict government control (Vietnamese and Khmer) of what they could have on board. The cabins and common areas were great, the shore excursions really informative. I was a little nervous about my first trip to Asia but AmaWaterways made a believer of me. See more..

    The boat trip (canoe and motorboat) was a bit short, but it was very beautiful, nothing like I’ve seen anywhere in Europe. We went there by motorbike from Chau Doc with a local guide and moto-taxi driver Mr Vang (+84 094 6604110) an absolutely lovely and friendly guy, good English speaker, we met him at the bus station. He arranged the drivers and took us there early in the morning, we went by smaller roads by the riverside so we could see the great landscapes and local river life. We were the first in the Tra Su forest, no tourists yet, which was great. Mr Vang booked the canoe trip, then on the motorboat and he even arranged a full breakfast for all 3 of us.     An Giang is very famous for Ba Chua Xu pagoda. However, Phuoc Kien pagoda (called as Hang pagoda) is a place here worth a visit too. It takes you ~5 mins to drive from Ba Chua Xu. The pagoda locates on Sam mountain as well, but in another site; so all the buildings are built leaning on the mountain with stair case to pass. There is a nice lotus lake on the left with Phat Di Lac statue, step in and you can have a great view over nearby area with rice paddles. Reaching to the top is the main temple, where people can do praying for health, wealthiness, happiness. Remember to take out the footwear to enter the main temple. Going through it, we can find the big bell and other view. During summer when the trees planted on the mountain are in blossom; the pagoda is like a landscape in old kungfu film in my imagination. They are building some more temples in higher place, so we can expect more to visit soon. See more..

    I have been to both floating market Cai Rang and Chau Doc. I would say Chau Doc floating market is more rural. The one in Cai Rang Can Tho is too touristy which is good for foreigners but the thing is you dont get to experience the vietnam culture.     We were recommended Alden Travel by the operator of the boat we took from Phnom Penh. We were a little unsure as we don't usually follow referrals and like to consider different options but I'm really glad we went with Alden Travel. We did an early morning boat tour to see the floating market then saw some fisheries and went the visit the Cham community. The tour was pricier than the one offered by our hotel but we understood why as soon as we set off as our guide, Duoc, really took care of us and spoke very good English. He was able to explain all about the different things we saw and answer our questions. It was also just two of us on the tour which made it a lot more relaxed. There was another boat behind us packed with people and I can't imagine they got the same level of interaction or opportunity to take lots of great pictures.     The Tay An Temple seems to cover every imaginable aspect to non-christian/judo religion...Islam, Hindu, Taoism, Buddism, etc. While the temple is very eclectic, it also is not particularly well maintained...cobwebs on statues, dirt/dust everywhere, offerings not attended to. We've traveled to a lot of temples and historically, rich or poor, the temples are well looked after. If you're in Chau Doc and want to stop by for a while...great.
