    - Beautiful
    Beaches
    Bean Point image
Bean Point is beautiful, with a large beach area. It is a great place to watch the sunset. However, it is a hike to get here if you don't have a car or golf cart - definitely not convenient. There is no parking but there is a loading/unloading area at one of the beach access points. The trolley does not come up here but you can walk up (about 20 min) from the Anna Maria City Pier. Manatee Public Beach image
We were concerned about not having beach chairs, but were quite happy when we discovered that they rented lounge chairs for $9 a piece. Also, there was a walk up restaurant counter that had a decent selection of food, and they delivered your food to your table. We had burgers, which were fine. There is a bar right next to the restaurant, also near the restrooms. They also had the little stand up showers to wash the sand off your feet. It really seemed like they had everything we needed! 10. 4.5 Coquina Beach (566 reviews)
    - White sand on a long, lovely beach
    Beaches
    Coquina Beach image
We love this beach in the mornings, afternoons and at sunset in February and March. We take snacks and drinks and settle in with a good book or walk to find shells and sand dollars. There's plenty of parking, new manned life guard stations and plenty of sprawl so folks are not on top of one another. A restaurant near the southern end of beach serves simple things as well as sodas, beer and adult beverages and has plenty of seating if you care to eat or drink there. Picnic tables and changing huts are strategically placed along the walking path that runs parallel to the beach. Driving to the beach can be easy or can take a while depending on the time of day and if construction is taking place on or before the island. Also the light on the island at Gulf Drive N and the Cortez Road W bridge can cause traffic to backup in any or all three directions. See more..

  16. 4.5 Holmes Beach (116 reviews)
    - Loved walking on Holmes Beach
    Beaches
    Holmes Beach image
I used to live in Holmes Beach for 4 1/2 years. The beach was a 3-minute walk from my door. The favorite thing I liked to do there was go for LONG walks on the beach around sunset. I never had to worry about when to turn back. Sometimes I'd walk to the north end of the island, other times to the south end, but the part I enjoyed most was the ride home on the nice air-conditioned free trolley bus! My legs and feet would be sore and tired! It felt great to be on that bus! See more..

We walked to the pier and ate at the Anna Maria Oyster Bar. It was so good we went back two more times. We saw snook, sea bass, trout, dolphins and lots of bait fish. Chatted with local people fishing. Nice little area on the southern part of the island. Close to some bars, shops and delicious restaurants. Our favorite was Bamboo Island. It’s upstairs and has an awesome selection of foods. Lots of night life and live music at night. See more..

    Leffis Key Preserve image
This is great to do in combination with Coquina beach; we parked at the beach (free) and crossed the street to this park. It was a relief from the crowds and there was quite a lot of shade to rest in. Bring mosquito repellent though. There's a picnic shelter at the entrance (no barbecue). It had rained the day before and some boardwalk were flooded but we stopped at several lookouts for different views. We saw plenty of little crabs too. See more..

Despite the red tide, the beach experience was awesome. Water was clear, sun was out, sand free of trash and mostly free of sea debris. Points of Interest & Landmarks
Anna Maria Historic Green Village image
This was one of the highlights of our trip! So much to see and do along Pine Avenue, and plenty of lunch and dinner options and ice cream and treats. Our favorite shops were: -Shiny Fish: stop in for an ice cream mochi bubble and paint your own sand dollar!!! Owner is SUPER nice and will do everything possible to make you happy and comfortable. Lots of reasonably priced goodies -Three Island Monkeys: another very nice store owner and lots of good souvenirs. Highlights were local prints and paintings by local artist. -The White Egret and Egrets Nest: Not sure if these are affiliated or just next door to one another but they were beautiful and I wanted one of everything! They're technically on Gulf near the intersection of Pine. See more..
  22. 4.5 Bridge Street (33 reviews)
    - Relaxing place to take a stroll, eat and shop
Spent 2-3 hours Points of Interest & Landmarks
    Bridge Street image
Bridge street is a small area with restaurants and shops. The bridge has a pier with a view of the small marina and the bay, and it is worth a look. We walked around an hour or so and had some coffee at the little coffee shop. There is a fairly large surf shop with quite a bit of clothing and gifts. What struck me about Bridge Street is that the vibe really matches the vibe of Anna Maria Island.......quiet and understated. We found the entire island to be largely unspoiled by tourism.....though there are a a lot of tourists. This is a quiet, relaxing island; and Bridge Street matches it perfectly. See more..
