4.5 (57 reviews) Spent 2-3 hours Ranking #5 in Anna Maria Island Parks

Great nature walk for an hour's respite from the beach crowds!

This is great to do in combination with Coquina beach; we parked at the beach (free) and crossed the street to this park. It was a relief from the crowds and there was quite a lot of shade to rest in. Bring mosquito repellent though. There's a picnic shelter at the entrance (no barbecue). It had rained the day before and some boardwalk were flooded but we stopped at several lookouts for different views. We saw plenty of little crabs too.

    A Walk Through Mangroves
We were surprised we did not see more people on this exquisitely crafted, raised wooden walkway through the mangroves. This park not only boasts beautiful bay views, it also teaches you about the ecosystem with occasional displays. Loved this magical place.

A Quiet Escape from the Beach Crowds
Located directly across Gulf Drive from the main entrance to Coquina Beach this modest preserve provides an enjoyable short (less than one mile) shell/packed sand and boardwalks circular path through the mangroves with a number of walkout views of the Intracoastal looking toward Cortez or Sarasota Bay. It is far enough removed from the beach and boat launch areas that there are few if any other people. The trail and lookouts have a number of strategically placed benches as well as a number of informative postings describing the surrounding ecosystem. The trail entrance has parking, bike racks and a small covered picnic shelter. There are no bikes or pets allowed in the preserve and no restroom facilities. I enjoy including this as part of my morning walk when we do a beach day at Coquina.
