  2. 5.0 Barafundle Beach (1.156 reviews)
    - Beautiful - plus car park info!
    Beaches
    Barafundle Beach image
Yes it's lovely, as everyone says, it can't be faulted. We went in the morning, arrived at 10am and were some of the first there. East facing so we were protected from the westerly wind. We walked to the lily ponds & back to the car park, about 5 miles including some sand dunes so quite tough, but well worth it. I just wanted to add information about parking - as at August 2022 it's £6 cash only in the machine, but you can pay by card at the adjacent kiosk. See more..

    Broadhaven Beach image
We stayed in The School House in Bosherston - it was perfect for us. Wow , the walk down to Broadhaven Beach through the lily ponds is amazing, the beach is dog friendly and so clean, great for various water activities! We took our paddle board and had great fun. There is a round walk on the other side of the lily ponds, about five miles , with a cafe half way and you will reach beautiful Barafundle Bay. Although very rural , you’re not far from Tenby and Saundersfoot. We discovered an amazing fish restaurant in Angle, The Old Point House. We will definitely return! See more..
  5. 5.0 Marloes Sands Beach (252 reviews)
    - One of the best beaches in the United Kingdom
    Beaches
    Marloes Sands Beach image
Marloes sands is gobsmacking, when the tide is fully out the beach is enormous, sandy, with large rock formations dotted about for rock pooling. The beach is hard to get to, parking in the national trust car park for £6percarper day or in the farmers field for £4 per vehicle per day [This parking is reliant on an honesty box which did not look like it was getting much use when we walked past]. Once parked there is a moderate walk to the beach itself which is about 10-15minutes from the closest point in the car park. Once on the beach, walk to the far end which is almost deserted and you will have the most amazing beach to yourself. Toilets are up be the cafe near the carpark, and are open even when the cafe is closed (Tuesdays) Some effort to get to and get on to, but well worth it. See more..

One of the most magnificent of Britain's castles is the "birth place of the Tudor Dynasty." You can climb the 80ft Great Keep, descend into a pre-historic cave and look down into a prisoner in a medieval dungeon. There is also a cafe and gift shop. During school holidays there are falconry displays, historic re-enactments and family entertainment. You can also visit the room that King Henry VII the founder of the Tudor Dynasty was born. See more..
  10. 4.5 St. Davids Cathedral (2.564 reviews)
    - A quiet retreat in the valley
    Sunday: 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Churches & Cathedrals
    St. Davids Cathedral image
The cathedral sits below the city of St Davids. There has been a church on this site since the 6th century but the current cathedral has been added in various stages. It is currently open to the public 10.00 to 17.00 Monday to Saturday and 13.00 to 17.00 on Sundays with no entrance fee although a donation is suggested, which can be paid by card. The ceilings are magnificent and the Treasury has some excellent exhibits. The arches along the nave are mainly Romanesque but the two at the end are Gothic in shape; all are beautifully carved. The quire has wonderful small wooden heads hidden amongst the woodwork. There is a gift shop outside along with the ruins of the 14th century Bishop's Palace but, unfortunately, this was closed Thursdays and Fridays while we were in the area. See more..

    Tenby Castle Beach image
We stayed just about 20 minutes away from Tenby and went for a day trip during the summer of 2020. This town is the most beautiful seaside town I’ve ever seen worldwide and if you’re around the area I’d highly recommend going to. It’s so picturesque and you can spend a whole day exploring the town as well as the many beaches. He gets very busy side recommend trying to get there earlyAnd exploring the town when it is less busy because he can make the most of it. Is quite easy to get around but if you get lost all the locals are very kind and welcoming. There is a lot of places to eat and I’d highly recommend get an ice cream by the seaside because they’re very tasty. Hope you enjoy your trip! See more..

    Historic Sites
    Tudor Merchant's House image
We have been coming to Tenby for many years and often dined at the fabulous Plantagenet House restaurant next door to the Tudor Merchants House. So this year as Newby National Trust members we decided to combine the two. Our National Trust guides were excellent… and if you love history this is a must visit! Make sure you book in advance by visiting the National Trust website. As a footnote the restaurant that adjoins the Tudor Merchant’s House, Is also the oldest building in Tenby and its interior is amazing. See more..
  15. 4.5 Tenby Lifeboat Station (646 reviews)
    - Well worth a visit
Spent 1-2 hours Points of Interest & Landmarks • Ships
    Tenby Lifeboat Station image
Tenby has 2 of the most spectacular coastal lifeboat stations. Inside the new one you can see the lifeboat and buy a souvenir from the gift shop. The old lifeboat station in the picture has apparently been turned into a private residence and was I believe the subject of a "Grand Designs" episode See more..
  16. 4.5 Skomer Island (610 reviews)
    - Fabulous!
    Islands
    Skomer Island image
We took the sunset boat trip around Skomer yesterday which was the perfect evening. It was truly magical ! A well organised and informative trip from Dale sailing. The excitement of seeing the first puffin soon shadows into insignificance when you are surrounded by thousands of them! We saw all the possible seabirds, the experienced crew knowing exactly where to find them plus seals enjoying the evening sun. The highlight for me was stopping the engine by Skomer and being part of the noisy busy colony of birds. Thank you all very much for a fabulous experience and memory. See more..
  17. 4.5 Lily Ponds (586 reviews)
    - Beautiful lily ponds - coins needed for car park!
Points of Interest & Landmarks • Beaches
    Lily Ponds image
The lily ponds are beautiful especially in June. It's annoying that non National Trust members need £6 in coins to park all day. There is no option to pay by notes and the ability to pay by card requires a phone signal or Internet connection for the app. A phone signal or Internet connection are both a rarity in rural Pembrokeshire. Yesterday there were many visitors gathered by the pay machine trying to fathom out how they could pay while the lucky few NT members or those with coins paid and set off on their walk. Please improve this by allowing payment by notes at least! See more..
  18. 4.5 St Davids Bishop's Palace (551 reviews)
    - Imagination Challenged
Sunday: 9:30 AM - 5:00 PM Historic Sites
    St Davids Bishop's Palace image
Magnificent medieval palace that rivalled its cathedral for glory. There was only one top job for an ambitious cleric in medieval Wales: Bishop of St Davids in Pembrokeshire. A 12th-century pope had decreed that two trips to St Davids were equal to one to Rome – turning it into a centre of pilgrimage for the entire Western world. Thousands flocked to see the shrine of St David in the newly built cathedral. But the bishop’s home was no match for this magnificence. Enter Henry de Gower. Between 1328 and 1347 he turned a building only fit for ‘servants and animals’ into an immense palace. The displayed opening times are our general pattern. Please check the Cadw website for specific times and days, including closures. See more..
  19. 4.5 Colby Woodland Garden (National Trust) (435 reviews)
    - An Awesome National Trust Woodlands and Gardens we visited
    Sunday: 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM Gardens
Colby Woodland Garden (National Trust) image
Awesome Gardens with a Walled garden included. We first had two Caesar Salads and cold drinks in the Cafe which were so tasty and had so much Chicken in them. After Lunch we first Walked around the woodland trail before visiting the walled garden which being National Trust members the car park and the entry fee all for us all free. Although if you are not a member the charge of your tickets is well worth it if you enjoy walking around Woodland trails and around the beautiful flowers and shrubs planted in the walled garden. So another place we are glad we bothered to visit while on our Staycation in South Wales. Thx for reading John & Sue Eastbourne UK See more..

    - Must visit chapel
Sunday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Ancient Ruins
    St Govan's Chapel image
A stunning chapel in the most dramatic location, we didn’t realise that you actually walk through the chapel on the way down. It was one of the more popular places we visited so if you want it to yourself go early or late. Also check info on the MOD’s Castlemartin ranges access as the main lane from Bosherton to the car park is often closed during the week. See more..

  22. 4.5 Solva (335 reviews)
    - Very pretty little village.
    Historic Sites
    Solva image
There is an ample sized car park in the village which is directly situated on the harbour. The village is very pretty and seemed to attract many dog walkers walking the harbour path. The village has a few lovely little shops and I noticed a pub which is next to the car park as well as a little cafe which was serving takeaway only.....all of the shops were closed due to covid restrictions. Parking was reasonable at £1 an hour with blue badge holders getting an extra hour. A very sweet little village which combined with the rock pools and harbour ( and when everything opens again) is worthy of a day trip. Visited 21st April 2021. See more..

We did the costal path walk from the Blue Lagoon to Porthgain harbour (unfortunately in the misty rain). Really interesting walk and loved Porthgain. Cute little village with some shops, cafes and restaurants. Enjoyed reading about the brick and slate industry in the village and all the old builds. Stopped by the Shed cafe for a coffee and cake to take shelter from the weather. Will return on a sunny day next time. See more..
