-Quaint & Peaceful
Thursday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Parks
On the way to our next stop on the east side of PR, we decided to visit Cabo Rojo. It was quaint & peaceful. We drove around the town, went to the Farmers Market & Plaza Ramon Emeterio Betances. The plaza is well kept and surrounded with various pieces of their history. A group of people playing dominoes in one area. They’re friendly and eager to talk to the visitors and let us take their photos. They offered us empanadillas which we gladly accepted. There’s also a snack booth Kioskos de Dulce on the other end where we had a slushy and chat with one of the locals. We also checked out the lighthouse, Playa Sucia and the Salt Flats afterwards. Our visit to the Cabo Rojo area made us think that on our next visit to PR, we will plan a stay in the southwest corner of the island. See more..

-Cabo Rojo Puerto Rico
Spent 1-2 hours Nature & Wildlife Areas
Even though it wasn't brilliantly "pink", it is worth seeing. The visitor station is definitely worth the stop (make sure to check as it is not open every day). Edgar, a young volunteer was exceptional. He took great care in explaining all about the area, as well as birds to look for and other animal species indigenous to that area. It was refreshing to have someone so into the experience and sharing that enthusiasm. Kudos to him! You can climb up the observation tower and the view is pretty. If you drive a little farther you get to the Cabo Rojo lighthouse. It's a bit of a hike as you can't park super close. The views as you walk along the cliffs are spectacular! There is a pretty secluded beach as well within the walk from the lighthouse and cliffs. See more..

-Old train tunnel
Historic Sites
Our home is fronts on two side with undeveloped property owned by the Puerto Rico Environmental Trust. This old train tunnel from the sugar cane times leads of 307 to the property behind our home. That property also houses a good size cave that falsely reports consider it the burial spot of Cofresi the pirate. See more..
- 4.0 Salinas de Cabo Rojo (10 reviews)
-Pink Hues
Thursday: 8:30 AM - 4:00 PM Points of Interest & Landmarks
Here’s what you need to know...the viewing tower is closed during the week. Only opened on the weekends I believe (google for specifics). However, there is a green gate that says no parking, it has a small open that will allow you to get in and see the flats up close. Some are pinker than others, and it doesn’t really reflect the hues on your iPhone. Be aware of that so you’re not disappointed if you drive for 2 hours to get a peek. It may not be AS pink as pictures are on google. I was advised to go around noon to get the best experience. This isn’t a rainy day activity. See more..
