   We ended up going here by accident seeing as the rest of Zhoushan was over-run by Chinese tourists. Lover's Isle or Valentine's island was the highlight of our trip. There are stunning views of the bay, beautiful paths, scenic views, picnic areas and little surprise romantic locations around every corner. Beware of all the mosquitoes, though. Wear long pants or take repellent with you. The entrance fee for the island is about 50 Yuan but it is worth it. You can make it a fun calm hike with your friends and family or a romantic stroll with your loved-one on the forest path surrounded by angel statues and underneath the intertwining trees.    I have lived in China for two years and this may be my favorite of all the places I've visited. Stone houses on steep hills with winding stairways; cats watching baskets of fish drying; retired fishermen watching their sons and grandsons returning from the fishing grounds in the afternoon; truly fantastic seafood - you can dine on the quay; one of the coolest bars (at night) and coffee shops (morning) is the Rock Jetty Bar - you can have a latte "at the ends of the earth"; and do get up at 4:30am to make the trek to the Sunrise Pavilion - first place sun rises in China. -- it is worth the walk through the dark streets with only fishermen mending their nets out and about. Wow, purchase insent in town for 15 yuan, much higher priced closer to attractions. 1,000 picture opportunities. no western tourists seen all day! local airport on mainland with bus shuttle to port 10 yuan. 15 min boat ride 30 yuan, packed, may use lower section to find a seat. lots of private... hostel... accomodations around 250 yuan. clean room with shower, a/c and tv. bus shuttle very convenient around town and from and to temples 5 to 10 yuan. highly tecommended, but 160 yuan .. island fee... ! meutermedia See more..

   From Shanghai there's actually a marine express that can reach Putuoshan within 2,5 hours, but at the time we went was not possible due to the big winds so we need to travel via Ningbo. A long drive but worth a drive as we were passing the Hangzhou bay bridge which is the longest bridge in the world. Once we reached Ningbo, we take a cruise at about 10-15 minutes cruise, outside cars/buses are not allowed in Putushan, you need to use the island's shuttle service to move around, so be sure you don't leave your belongings behind as you won't be taking that minibus again on the way back. There are lots of temples here despite of the great symbol of Guan Yin statue (bu li kai de Guan Yin). The scenery is very beautiful, by far there's a small islands shaping the face and the body of Guan Yin.....very beautiful. See more..

    I went there in april...the weather was good....not good enough for swimming...Last year -2012- the had Disneyland Sculptures....amazing... Also the suvenires... The place to eat nearby is not the best...you might want to take come food with you...I was there just one day....no idea about hotels... Is worth visiting! See more..

    We were there just before the season start so paid only around 30 rmb each, definitely won't come there in peak season - too expansive and possibly crowded. Apart from that a nice area, quiet, good for a short gateway from Shanghai for example.     The beach dun really look inviting to me accept facing my hotel where I stay in The Citic Putuo Hotel horrible hotel with bad attitude and service mindset. I was told by mine guide not to walk to the grass area in the dark as there is snake. Not to go in the night is the best as there are a lots Bed and Breakfast and Restaurant standing out there to pull business in to their restaurant for business. See more..

    Lovely open beach for a full family day. Interesting and beautiful sand sculptures that the kids would love. Each year hold a different theme to the sculptures. During my visit I seen the older sculptures (Fairytales) in the gardens, and the build up to the Beijing Olympics were on the main beach area.     朱家尖最推荐的自驾游路线。门票一人100。全程单向一车道，请注意不可逆行。约6公里貌美山路。沿途超多大大小小的观景平台，时间充裕建议每个都停留片刻，因为每个角度都不同景色。除周末节假日还有自行车道可供选择骑行，不过上下坡众多，建议体力充沛者选择。沿途洗手间足够干净。台风纪念碑处的无敌海景洗手间尤其推荐（见最后一张）
