   The monastery was originally built in the Sui Dynasty (586 AD). Most of the present buildings were reconstructed during the Song Dynasty (960-1279 AD). Other than beautiful architectures, there are lots of valuable artworks. For example, a 22-meter bronze statue of Thousand Hands Guan Yin, a colorful wooden carving of Guan Yin sitting in a grotto, statues of bronze Buddha, and historical stone tablets.    At the end of Zhengding Li Shi Wenhua Street (Zhengding History and Culture Street). The original temple has been ruined, but the tower is preserved. Quite interestingly, in many Chinese old temple and monastery, buildings collapsed during wars or after been neglected for years, but the pagoda stands still. It might be due to the respect and awe from people. Quite an unique and beautiful pagoda. There are sculptures of Buddhas, peoples, elephants and lions on it. The tower itself likes a bouquet of flowers. "Huata" means "Flower tower" in Chinese. The pagoda is up high on the tower base, only can be better viewed If you have a telescope. See more..

   The birth place of the Línjì school (臨濟宗) (a school of Chan Buddhism). The Chan Master Línjì Yìxuan (臨濟義玄), the founder of the Linji school, established this Temple around 854 AD. The famous Chengling Pagoda is located in this Temple. The original tower was built in 867 AD, and was destroyed in war. Later, the pagoda was rebuilt in 1183. Other architectures of this temple were rebuilt after 1980s. It is a Buddhist holy temple, no entrance fee is needed. Donation is appreciated. See more..

   This attraction listing should be called Big Buddha Temple (大佛寺), which is what the locals call it, but in fact its official name is Longxing Temple (隆兴寺). A beautiful and very large temple, you should allow at least an hour for your visit. The huge copper Guanyin after which the temple is named is extremely impressive. Unlike the other temples in Zhengding which are lit up and stay open until 11pm, this one closes at 5.30. It’s very easy to get to, being only a 20-minute cab ride from the centre, or take bus 177 from the medical university bus stop (河北医大) north of the stadium on Zhongshan Road to Zhengding Nanmen (正定南门; if using a transport card you’ll be asked to pay a second time when leaving the previous payment zone).    The official name of the tower is "Xumi Pagoda (須彌塔)", located in the Kaiyuan Monastery (開元寺). The tower was built in Tang Dynasty (636 AD). It is a beautiful Tang Dynasty style pagoda, resembles other Tang pagodas, such as the Giant Wild Goose pagoda in Xi-an. Near by the pagoda, there stands a Bell Pavilion.     I went to Hutuo River earlier this year with my students on a grade hike. It is a man made river, but there is a beautiful park on the western side. I did not have much time to enjoy it because we were always on the move, but from what I did get to enjoy, there are many beautiful areas and I think there is even a small amusement park in the area. The day we were there it was quite warm, but then we had just hiked 2 hours. The wisteria and many other beautiful trees and flowers were blooming. It is a huge area and it takes a long time to go from one end to the other, so take your time and plan to spend at least an entire afternoon there. I also advise you to bring your own food and water.     I came to the training base in May as a visitor rather than a trainee or a trainee's family member. This is a place that I had been longing to be at, and I finally met a world-class coach there.
    
    The training hall is so huge that it had accommodated over 16 ping pong tables, and as many as 30-50 young players were playing. I suspected that there was any air circulation in the hall which could disturb the natural flow of balls back and forth.
    
    While in the hall, I had a chance to play with a girl of 12 from India. Yes, I tried my best playing, but I felt as my proficiency level of playing were like a 12-year-old and hers was my age.
    
    I chatted with several other boys and girls around 10, who told me that they were all from India. In the yard outside the training hall were several adults waiting who looked like their parents. See more..

    Though almost all the structures are modern, this is a pleasant street to walk down, especially in the evening when it's all lit up - even on a chilly October night it was busier than in the daytime. As well as the temples there are little alleys running off it to explore, nice shops and little restaurants, including a cafe near Yanghe Lou with passable coffee.
