   just a short bus trip from Beijing CBD is the great wall of China. A wonder by all meanings of the word. Weather you appreciate History, Architecture or culture the great wall will simply wow and overwhelm you. Its larger that it looks on photos, higher and physically more challenging to climb that videos or photos can ever show. the market place at the bottom with food, artifacts and memorabilia's is a wonder o its own.    An easy walk to some really pretty woodland country with waterfalls. Nice and cool in summer. There is a large expansion of the track system going on to get travelers to the top of the main waterfall at the top of the gorge - this will be great when finished. Previously they had a system of vertical ladders in place but these are closed now. Plenty of nuts, mushrooms and fungi on sale and good toilet facilities on site. See more..

   Went for a 3 hr boat ride to see some Buddhist caves - I don't think these are real ancient or if they are significant in anyway - no one seemed to know - or care. Bit of a climb to get up and the man in charge would not allow photographs. The boat ride was typically Chinese - no boat left until full and full means at least 10% of the people had no seat - a long stand. On the way we stopped in to various sites so that villagers could sell their wears to the City folk and the boat driver could get his bung for stopping. The lake is getting polluted but there is still a lot of fishing done here.If only the Chinese would take their rubbish home and not drop it anywhere, it would be a great tourist destination.
