   If you want to find a quiet place to rest, Moganshan is one of your choice. It is famous place to avoid hot summer, there are many villas around the whole mountain, which are connected with many famous persons in Chinese history of last century. One can take train or bus from Hangzhou to Deqing county, then transfer taxi to Mountain. Although the mountain is not very high, where you can hiking within one day, & most of tourist will return Deqing county on the same day, I suggest that one stay there at least one night to breath the fresh air in the next morning. Summer & fall, as well as public holidays, are rush reasons (hotels pricie will rush too), beside these days, you can find hotel with reaonable price. If you are tired with crowded West Lake of Hangzhou, you can arrange a trip to Moganshan. See more..

   Moganshan is a hill station with temperate climate and green bamboo clad hills offering fantastic panoramic views of the surrounding green hills. It is an escape from the hustle and bustle of the overcrowded Chinese cities. Nothing else to do here except enjoy the solitude and take part in healthy hiking activities. Premier attraction is the hike to Sword Forging Pond (Jian Chi) – named after Mo Xie & Gan Jiang (married sword smiths who made & polished 2 beautiful swords for emperor, by this pool fed by three waterfalls. Good walkways, wooden pagodas and viewing points. It’s a 30 minute hike down from Yinshan Jie (Street). Difficult hike back but still manageable. There are many routes to get there. Start from Yinshan Jie right in front of ZTG Mingting Hotel (no signage indicating start of hike to Sword Pond). Go down the outdoor spiral staircase and follow the stone path as it meander through bamboos and a stream. Pass by Maple Villa, a grand mansion under restoration. Next is the Seven Bells Pond (can rest there). Path descends steeper to the statue of Husband & Wife (Mo Xie & Gan Jiang) by a pond and waterfall. Rest at the convenience store which sells drinks and snacks. Follow the steep steps down to a series of waterfall and ponds, the last of which is the Sword Pond (with timber deck and bivouc pavilion lookout. There are strategically located pavilions at various vantage points that offer fantastic photo opportunities of the Sword pond. The path continues down but I did not explore due to insufficient time.    Xinshi is an ancient town with 1600 years' history, located one and a half hours ride from Huzhow City. It is an under discovered and under developed old town, much smaller and less famous than many other water towns in Zhejiang Province. I have visited lots of “ancient towns” in China, many of them are too commercialized and crowded. Xinshi is an exceptionally well-preserved ancient town. The beautiful scene impresses me very much. It is really a picture-perfect water town. Everything is within walking distance. You can take an one to two hours stroll along the river. There are very few stores, bars, coffee shops and restaurants in the town. The spot is suitable for artists, architectural lovers and tourists searching for peace and relaxation. See more..
