  2. 4.5 Mount Qian Shan (141 reviews)
    - Little known beauty spot.
    Tuesday: 7:00 AM - 6:00 PM Mountains

Not the most famous mountian range. This are is often overlooked. But the Chinese flock here in the thousands. Qainshan (translated as Thousand Mountians) is a beautiful location. It includes three types of temples: Buddist, Taoist and also Nuns. It is almost unique in having all three in the same place. There are well trodden paths up the more popular peeks. But you must be fit to do this. For the less able, there are two sets of Cable Cars that will hoist you to the top. Though there is actually plenty to be seen at the bottom with many lakes and monostries or temples found round almost every corner. In addition to the mountains and temples, there is a huge bird zoo that I am told is spectacular (though I haven't been inside myself yet). The local people think this park is best visited at night. Many of the temples and moutain peaks are floodlit in the evening. So don't leave too early. See more..

  7. 4.5 Anshan Museum (5 reviews)
    - Considering the size and age of the city, there is a decent display
Tuesday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Speciality Museums
Anshan is not an old city. The place was started in the early part of the 20th century when the Japanese set up an iron and steel mill in the area. So one would not expect much in a city museum for a new city like this. However, although Anshan city is new, the surrounding area has a long history. One hall in the museum shows off much of that early history. Another hall displays the history of the iron factory that is the major employer in the city. A third hall contains art and calligraphy while the fourth hall showcases famous people from Anshan and photographs or famous visitors to the city. Of these, the first two are of interest to foreign tourists, the latter two less so. All the exhibits are labelled in Chinese. There are English descriptions on some wall displays but not on all of the displays. Even then, the Chinese descriptions are rather basic and could be improved significantly. The museum is free to enter as long as you bring ID with you e.g. your passport. See more..
  8. 4.5 Wuliang Taoist Temple (2 reviews)
    - True Chinese Emporers

Look up reviews on Qianshan. this is part of Qianshan Mountain tour for complete info. The Taoist temples are very old. The Buddhist are also old but are from India originaly whereas the Taoist are Chinese from way back. There is a bit of a walk to the Wuliang Temple but not tricky. As I said look at reviews on Qianshan. See more..

    Tanggangzi Hot Spring image
My wife and I stayed here for about two weeks. It is a great property with lots of nature outdoors and hot water springs. Rooms are functional and comfortable with daily cleaning service and linen change once a week. Alternative medicine treatments (massage, oil/mud baths, etc.) are also available under professional doctors' care. There are bars, karaoke, restaurant facilities as well. Of course, one has to have a taste of authentic Chinese cuisine. In short, a great place for a quite spa vacation. We would go there every year! See more..

  13. 3.5 Lvshun Birds Park (2 reviews)
    - Cool under the trees

    Lvshun Birds Park image
We went to visit the Bird Park and were quite impressed by the layout and the proximity of the birds. The waterfall has many water and ground birds and you can feed these after buying a bag of food for a few rmb. This made photo oppoertunites very good for my husband as he could get up close while I fed various ducks, peilcan, egrets and peacocks. The waterfall makes for a steady climb and is pleasently cool under the many trees. The bird show of 3 times a day is entertaining and viewed by many. It is included in the park fee. The souvenir shop is a bit pricy but entrance to the Birds Park was only 40yuan. The small restuarnant next to the entrance is worth a visit. See more..
