  6. 5.0 The Baha’i House of Worship (23 reviews)
    - Peace and Serenity
    Religious Sites
The Baha’i House of Worship image
This was buy far the highlight of Battambang for me. In the land of beautiful temples that are 100’s and thousands of years old. This was the only one that I encountered where tourism didn’t seem to be at the forefront of its purpose. Nobody asking for money. The roads were not riddled with planes to eat and people to take your money. A bit out of the way of Battambang but well worth the journey. If your looking for a really serene place to meditate and pray, or pay homage to the Divine, however you may describe it, this Temple is for you. See more..

  13. 4.5 Wat Samrong Knong (39 reviews)
    - Disturbing
Friday: 7:00 AM - 6:00 PM Points of Interest & Landmarks
    Wat Samrong Knong image
The pagoda at the front of the site gives no indication of the horrors that were committed during the reign of the Khmer Rouge - the monument really says it all. The Torture room has minimal extra information it just gives you an indication of the small size of this area. There must have been hundreds of these sites all over the country with this one accounting for approximately 10 thousand horrific deaths - and for what?? See more..

  16. 4.5 Lotus Farm (17 reviews)
    - Amazing !!!!
    Farms
    Lotus Farm image
Really nice sightseeing: lotus, mountain, rice fields, fishers....and the Lotus Center ! In this heaven far from everything we dicover a new handicraft which aim to extract the fiber from the lotus to spin it in a regular and smooth thread and then to make a exclusive fabric for clothing. Not cheap but when you learn about the time to collect the stems and spin it and the numbers of employment supported, you will undertand thatit's worth to buy a small souvenir. Simply amazing ! See more..
  17. 4.5 Make Maek Art Space (9 reviews)
    - Cambodian Renaissance!... Magical
    Art Galleries
    Make Maek Art Space image
This gallery is incredible. There are only two galleries in Battambang, and this one is the only one in the whole of Cambodia to be founded, funded, owned, and managed by a local Cambodian, who by the way works a full time job with his wife and baby to keep this project going. Unlike Sammaki, the other gallery in town, Make Maek has a bigger more professional looking space smack dab in the middle of the historic district and surrounded by lovely cafes and restaurants. They have several events coming up such as free Salsa lessons on Tuesday's from 6-7pm (but email or call to make sure) and monthly Artwalks AKA Street Party! It is a real renaissance so check it out :) See more..
  18. 4.0 Wat Banan Temple (548 reviews)
    - Peaceful, pleasant spot.
Friday: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM Historic Sites • Religious Sites
    Wat Banan Temple image
Wat Banan temple away from Battambang city about 25km. It’s a 358-stone-step climb up Phnom Banan to reach Prasat Banan, but the incredible views across surrounding countryside from the top are worth it. Udayadityavarman II, son of Suryavarman I, built Prasat Banan in the 11th century; some locals claim the five-tower layout here was the inspiration for Angkor Wat, although this seems optimistic. See more..
  19. 4.0 Phnom Sampeau (349 reviews)
    - Great mix of culture, nature and physical activity, and no would be guides either
Friday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Nature & Wildlife Areas
    Phnom Sampeau image
Others have spoken about the climb up, the pagoda, the killing caves and the bats so I’ll just comment on the complaints some people have made re litter and scams etc. I walked up the steps and once I arrived at the top no children (or adults) pestered me to be my guide sell me stuff etc. Also as for litter it didn’t seem too bad; I certainly didn’t think this was built on top of a rubbish tip. Even though it was the middle of the dry season the top was quite empty, only about a 6 or so other tourists. The killing caves were busier but not heaving. One point, there is a sign by the monk saying please take off your shoes as this is also a shrine. Very few tourists were doing that. The bat area was busy, but it can accommodate over 100 people without it being a squeeze, and as of Jan 23 the bats start leaving just before 6pm. See more..

Ta Dumbong Kro Aung Statue image
Ta Dumbong Kro Aung Statue ( Black man Statue ) Founded in the 11th century by the Khmer Empire, Battambang is the leading rice-producing province of the country. For nearly 100 years it was a major commercial hub and provincial capital of Siamese province of Inner Cambodia (1795-1907), though it was always populated by Khmer, with some ethnic Vietnamese, Lao, Thai and Chinese. Battambang remains the hub of Cambodia’s northwest, connecting the region with Phnom Penh and Thailand. See more..

  27. 3.5 Angkor Express Boat (565 reviews)
    - A highlight of my Cambodian Trip
    Ferries
    Angkor Express Boat image
Not for all as it does take time. It was quite the experience though. I must have taken a couple of hundred photos. It seemed that most people of a certain age, like myself were intrigued by all that it had to offer. While a younger demographic,.. Say under 30ish just seemed to keep their earbuds in and head down wondering when it was all going to end. So if you want to see river boat villages, locals fishing, exotic birds, children coming out to the banks and waving to you in excitement..etc.. this is a must. If you just want to fall asleep and block all this out then just take the bus. See more..
  28. 3.5 Battambang Provincial Museum (45 reviews)
    - An interesting experience.
    History Museums
    Battambang Provincial Museum image
This was a hassle free museum visit that we would actually enjoy. There were several exhibits that just wouldn’t be on display during your temple visits, so well worth an hour or two of your time and the $1 entrance fee. Have fun See more..
  29. 3.5 Phsar Nath Market (34 reviews)
    - Overpowering smell of fish
    Flea & Street Markets
    Phsar Nath Market image
The Phsar Nath Cenral market sits at a major intersection at the northern end of town. It spreads a whole block from Road 3 down to the riverside Road 1. Around the entrance on Road 3 are many vendors cooking local fish. The smell is overpowering but never the less is a fascinating place to wander around. It is great to see the variety of creatures which can be gathered from the Tonle Sap. Crabs, squid, prawns, a great variety of fish, frogs and other indistinguishable things on sticks. See more..
  30. 3.0 Battambang Crocodile Farm (139 reviews)
    - Hold baby crocs - croc farm.
Nature & Wildlife Areas • Farms
    Battambang Crocodile Farm image
Great seeing and holding baby crocs for $2 USD pp. In regards to the rest of the farm, people have to make a living somehow. The area overall was quite clean and crocs were being hosed with water whilst we were there. We knocked on door of one farm that didn't have any baby crocs and then a lady pulled up in scooter to take us to her farm across the rd. So don't be afraid of pulling up to the corrugated fencing and calling out. See more..
