Stunning building
Located in the El Mercat District is Central Market Of Valencia which gives this district it's name and what an iconic building this is . Facing the iconic Llotja De La Seda and The Church Of The Juanes ,it's a beautiful example of an architectural style known as Valencian Art Nouveau . There had been a market on this spot since 1839 ,albeit an open air market . This market hall was constructed between 1914-1928 ,several designers and architects worked on the construction of the market hall ,Alexandre Soler Marsh,Francesc Guárdia Vidal and finally completed by Enrique Viedma Vidal. This is one of the largest market halls in Europe covering 8.000 square metres ,it's a hive of activity ,fresh produce ,lots of vendors ,fast food outlets ,it's a great atmosphere here ,around the market hall are all manner of pubs, cafés,bars and restaurants ,it's a market hall ,plaza and area most definitely well worth checking out if you're planning a holiday to Valencia.

The best market. A must visit
Without doubt, our absolute favorite indoor market anywhere in the world we’ve been to. The fact that it’s the largest fresh produce market in Europe as well as in a city right on the Mediterranean and near one of the most fertile and diverse farming regions of Europe does not hurt. The sheer size is something to behold with over 1200 stalls of some of the most diverse and fresh fruit, vegetable and seafood selections you could imagine along with breads, pastries, nuts, local favorites and soooo much more. Set in a wonderful purpose-built building for this market right in the heart of the old town is just a bonus all around. On this trip to Valencia, we came by the market several times for food for meals, snacks for the apartment and to grab some food on the fly. It’s all here.

Great place to see
This is such a unique and interesting sight within the city of Valencia. It is one of the first things to open up in the morning so I would recommend starting your day here either before or after breakfast. The beauty of going early is it was not to crowded and we were able to experience the market and the people without the crowds. If in Valencia, it is a must see.
