A typical scenario of southern Brazil, where German settlements of the 19th and early 20th century can still be seen. A good place to visit on a sunny day, but in the summer (December to March), it is advisable to bring insect repellent, hat and sunscreen, especially if you take small children or want to go fishing or picnic. At some points, it is possible to cross the calm lowland river, walking on the stones. Nice and refreshing, but make sure you have comfortable and safe shoes (rubber sole). There are a couple of restaurants or cafes, many farms and rural scenes that are worth a stop. Along the road you can buy country goods, such as juices and fruits, jams, cookies, breads, biscuits, butter, cheese, eggs, sausage, all home made by the settlers that live there. See more..

  5. 4.5 Centro Histórico (315 reviews)
    - Great day trip from Joinville
Spent 2-3 hours Historic Walking Areas
    Centro Histórico image
The historical centre is a colourful area with nice architecture, lovely views over Babitonga bay, and with a number of bars and restaurants. We went to a bar behind the Public Market. The Historical Centre is a 15 minute walk from the main shopping mall where the bus from Joinville dropped us. The buses to and from Joinville are run by Verdes Mares, and (slightly confusingly) there are 2 services - both rather infrequent. One runs to/from the main bus station in Joinville, the other from near the urban bus statiin in the centre of Joinville. The journey each way took an age due to traffic congestion about half way (in an area with a dead straight road and few major junctions, which we couldn't work out) See more..
