    The Finlayson area is located by the Tammerkoski rapids. It was founded in 1820 by James Finlayson from Scotland. He noticed the energy potential of free rapids. The Finlayson textile manufacturing ended in Tampere at the beginning of the 1990s. The old factory buildings are left. Today there are museums, offices, bars, restaurants, a movie theater, and a shopping center. This summer, you can find Finland’s first rooftop walk on the roofs of these historic buildings.
